Netflix just lobbed another glossy grenade into the Peak TV battlefield, releasing the first official trailer for His & Hers, its upcoming limited series starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal. And if the two-minute preview is any indication, the streamer clearly wants this marital-murder mystery to dominate early 2026 conversation, preferably with viewers yelling “I knew it!” at their screens. The series, adapted from Alice Feeney’s best-selling novel, promises shifting perspectives, unreliable narrators, and enough simmering tension to register on a seismograph.
The trailer wastes no time setting the tone: Thompson plays Anna Andrews, a once-promising news anchor whose life has taken enough hits to be its own six-episode miniseries. Bernthal steps in as Detective Jack Harper, the man investigating a murder that, lucky him, may involve his ex-wife. As Netflix thrillers often go, the clues are cryptic, the vibes are foggy, and everyone looks like they could have done it. Even the neighbors. Especially the neighbors.
Stylistically, His & Hers leans into a sleek noir aesthetic: chilly woods, shadowy interiors, and just enough lingering close-ups to make you wonder who’s lying, who’s covering, and who’s definitely getting arrested by episode three. Thompson serves wounded ambition with razor-sharp edges, while Bernthal brings his signature mix of charm and perpetual internal screaming. Throw in director William Oldroyd whose work on Lady Macbeth proved he knows his way around psychological chaos and the trailer feels like a warning that nobody here is emotionally safe.
Netflix, of course, is positioning His & Hers as its next big, prestige-leaning thriller, and honestly, the strategy might pay off. The story plays with dual perspectives, meaning every reveal can flip itself inside out a scene later. If executed well, this could be the show that gets your group chat arguing about “the real truth” for weeks.
His & Hers premieres January 8, 2026, and based on the trailer alone, it has all the ingredients of a binge-worthy January obsession: murder, messy exes, career meltdowns, suspicious woodland strolls, and a pair of leads fully committed to keeping viewers guessing.
If Netflix was hoping to hook us early, mission accomplished. Now the only mystery left is whether audiences will side with him, her, or most likely no one at all.
