All Her Fault Season 1 Episode 5 Recap: The Truth About Brian’s Accident Revealed

Man in a striped shirt holds a box with a green and blue cake inside, in an indoor setting. A person partially visible in the foreground.

Detective Alcaraz tells the group that they found Carrie Finch’s nanny car abandoned, along with the rental home where it looks like Milo had been kept. The surprising part? It appears Milo was actually being cared for fairly well. They also discovered a body in the lake, believed to be Kyle, with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

Detective Alcaraz brings a stuffed toy he recognized from the rental home and shows it to Marissa and Peter. Everyone instantly identifies it as Mr. Chips—the toy Milo had with him during Easter weekend. That realization hits hard: Carrie had been targeting Milo long before she ever became Jenny’s nanny. The group tries to figure out who could’ve given Carrie access to Mr. Chips, and the unsettling truth is that only the people in that room were at the ranch house over Easter. None of them had any guests.

Later, Marissa remembers that Colin, Lia, and Brian went out one evening over that Easter weekend. She asks where they actually went. They look caught off guard but say they attended an art show for Lia’s friend. The doorbell rings—a birthday cake delivery for Milo. Marissa tells Peter to run out and grab couch cleaner since a TV crew is coming that night and she wants the place spotless. Once everyone leaves, Marissa calls the art gallery to check their Easter weekend hours.

Meanwhile, Jenny tells Richie she needs him to watch Jacob so she can go support Marissa for the TV interview. Richie pushes back, saying Saturdays are his “me time” and he doesn’t think she needs to go. Jenny is frustrated but admits she shouldn’t have said yes before checking with him. She promises to work on it, and he says he will too.

Jenny arrives at Marissa’s house, and Marissa reassures her that none of this is her fault—Carrie had been fixated on Milo long before she was hired. Jenny offers to help deep-clean the couch. The gallery calls back, and Marissa learns they didn’t have any evening hours at all. Meaning Lia, Brian, and Colin definitely lied.

Marissa goes to Brian, who claims he went to tour an assisted living home and didn’t want to tell Peter. He says Colin and Lia just drove him and dropped him off, and he doesn’t know where they were afterward.

Back at the house, Peter walks in to find Jenny stripping the couch. She apologizes for hiring Carrie. Peter tells her he wants to forgive her—he’s just not there yet—and asks if she can please let him take care of Marissa for the night. Jenny quietly agrees and leaves.

When Marissa comes home and sees Peter cleaning the couch, she’s irritated that he dismissed Jenny at all. Peter later goes to talk with Brian, and they revisit the childhood accident that left Brian disabled. Peter insists that Leah had been chasing Brian and he fell, and that the whole thing traumatized Peter as a kid. Colin hands Brian his pain meds and notices Brian only has a few pills left—odd, considering Lia supposedly refilled them.

Inside the main house, Marissa confronts Colin and tells him she knows they weren’t at the gallery. Colin cracks and admits he’s been secretly seeing Lia, and they didn’t want anyone to know. Peter walks in and hears the confession. Peter tells Colin they are both addicts and shouldn’t be together. Colin fires back, accusing Peter of loving the fact that Lia and Brian depend on him. Peter says his parents were always uninterested, and all he ever wanted was to take care of his siblings.

Brian calls his neurosurgeon and begs to be placed on any treatment waitlist. The doctor is confused—he never told Peter that Brian wasn’t a candidate for the experimental surgery. Brian starts putting together that Peter lied. He gets drunk, storms into the main house on his electric wheelchair, and confronts Peter, causing total chaos. Peter accuses Lia of stealing

Brian’s meds, but she denies it. Marissa digs around and finds the full, refilled bottle—proving Lia wasn’t lying.

During the confrontation, Brian and Lia realize Peter wasn’t telling the truth about the accident at all. Peter finally confesses: he intentionally stuck his foot out, causing Brian to fall when they were kids. Lia is devastated—her entire life has been shaped by guilt she never actually deserved. Peter tries to spin it, saying he “gave her a gift,” a reason for why her life felt like a mess.

Marissa tells Peter that she uses Milo as an excuse to send him away on errands. Before the argument can go further, the phone rings: it’s the police. They tell Marissa they have a boy at the station they believe is Milo.
