This tv news comes as a shock as Mythic Quest was renewed for two seasons (season 3 and season 4) in 2021. AppleTV+ has changed its tune and has canceled the series, meaning it will not return for a season 5.

Season 4 finished its run not too long ago on March 26 after premiering in January. It gets even weirder because coming to AppleTV+ next week is a new finale episode of the series with a brand new ending. So, fans have something to look forward to before the show goes into oblivion.

The original comedy followed a video game production company as they launched their game, you guessed it, Mythic Quest. The cast included Rob McElhenney, Judah Prehn, Ashly Burch, Jessie Ennis, Imani Hakim,David Hornsby and Charlotte Nicdao.

Famous guest stars over the seasons included rapper Snoop Dogg, actors Joe Manganiello  and Anthony Hopkins to name a few. The series received high ratings among Rotten Tomato critics scoring in the high 90s to 100% some seasons. So this cancellation news can feel like a gut punch to some fans.

The series executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney released a statement saying, “Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, ‘Mythic Quest’ is coming to a close. We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build—and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning. Because endings are hard, with Apple’s blessing we made one final update to our last episode—so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over.”

Sometimes in the world of TV, shows don’t always bow out. Perhaps Mythic Quest can find life again.
