Lupin Part 4 Finally Has a Premiere Date—and Assane Diop Is Not Coming Back Quietly

Put down the fake mustache and stop drafting your own heist plans. Netflix has officially locked in the Lupin Part 4 premiere date, confirming that our favorite French gentleman thief, Assane Diop, will return to our screens on October 23, 2026.

It has been a minute. By the time the new episodes drop, we will have spent a full three years parsing through that brutal Part 3 cliffhanger. While waiting thirty-six months for a resolution had us feeling a certain way, mostly impatient, Netflix, Gaumont, and Carrousel Studios apparently needed the extra time to scale up the production values. If the early rummaging behind the scenes is any indication, the extended hiatus might actually pay off.

More Episodes to Unpack

If you thought the previous parts wrapped up too quickly, good news. Netflix is expanding the canvas this time around. Part 4 will feature eight full episodes, making it the longest installment of the French thriller to date.

The math tracks nicely for a binge-watch:

  • Parts 1 & 2: Five episodes each

  • Part 3: Seven episodes

  • Part 4: Eight episodes

Omar Sy is, of course, back in the signature high-top sneakers as Assane. The charisma remains fully intact. He is joined by the usual suspects, including Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, and Soufiane Guerrab. Filming quietly kicked off in May 2025 and is already entirely wrapped, meaning the footage is safely locked in the vault.

Breaking Out of the Corner

Let’s talk narrative reality: the writers boxed themselves into a massive corner at the end of Part 3. Assane spent three seasons faking his death, wearing Spirit Halloween-level disguises, and ruining his family's peace of mind, only to realize the only way to protect them was to surrender.

The new season opens with Assane sitting behind bars. It is a stark shift for a character whose entire appeal relies on absolute freedom of movement. Watching a master of escape navigate a locked cell block should inject some much-needed friction into a formula that was starting to feel a bit too smooth. How many times can a man trick the entire Paris police force with a slightly different hat? We are about to find out.

Netflix paired the date announcement with a fresh franchise poster showing Assane looking characteristically brooding. October cannot come fast enough.

Drop your best theories in the comments below. How is Assane getting out of this one, and who is actually pulling the strings from the cell next door? Let's discuss.
