Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy & James Lance Join Wednesday Season 3

A girl with braided hair and a striped uniform stands in front of a gothic building. She looks serious. Other students are in the background.

Netflix has officially confirmed that Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance are packing their bags for the upcoming third season of Wednesday. For a show that already thrives on Gothic atmosphere and high-school hijinks with a body count, adding a Lannister, a Brat Pack icon, and a reformed sports journalist feels like a deliberate attempt to break the internet and we aren’t complaining.

The Power Players of Season 3

While Netflix is keeping their specific character descriptions under lock and key (likely in a coffin in the Addams family crypt), the pedigree of these additions speaks for itself.

Lena Headey is, of course, the primary draw here. After years of playing Cersei Lannister with a wine glass permanently attached to her hand, Headey is a natural fit for the macabre world of Wednesday. Whether she’s playing a rival to Morticia or a particularly ruthless new administrator at Nevermore, her presence ensures that the stakes and the insults, will be appropriately high.

Then we have Andrew McCarthy. For those of us who grew up watching him navigate the social hierarchies of the 80s in Pretty in Pink, seeing him enter the supernatural fray of a Tim Burton-adjacent project is a delightful pivot. It’s about time a member of the original Brat Pack dealt with literal monsters instead of just teenage angst.

Finally, James Lance joins the fray. Fresh off his run as the impeccably coiffed Trent Crimm in Ted Lasso, Lance brings a specific brand of dry, observational humor that should mesh perfectly with Jenna Ortega’s deadpan delivery. If he’s playing a teacher, we can only hope he’s as inquisitive as his previous persona.

Expanding the Addams Universe

These three aren't the only ones joining the party. Season 3 is shaping up to be an absolute circus of talent, with Eva Green already cast as Aunt Ophelia and Winona Ryder making a much-anticipated appearance as Tabitha. It seems showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar are determined to turn Wednesday into a "who's who" of dark fantasy royalty.

The production has shifted its base to Dublin, Ireland, providing a fresh, foggy backdrop for whatever secrets the Addams family is planning to "excavate" next. While Season 2 is set to drop in two parts throughout late 2025, the buzz for Season 3 is already reaching a fever pitch with these casting bombshells.

Why This Matters

For a show that became a global phenomenon almost overnight, the challenge is always: how do you keep the momentum going without becoming a caricature of yourself? By leaning into veteran actors who understand how to balance camp with genuine gravitas, Wednesday is positioning itself as more than just a viral dance trend. It’s becoming a legitimate powerhouse of ensemble acting.

As we wait for more details to leak from the set in Dublin, one thing is certain: Nevermore is about to get a lot more crowded, and significantly more interesting.
