Hulu’s ‘The Land’ Trailer Brings Football, Family Drama, and a Whole Lot of Pressure

The Cleveland Browns need a winning season, but judging by the premise of Hulu's upcoming drama The Land, football might be the least of everyone's problems.

Hulu has released the official trailer for the new series from Dan Fogelman, the man behind This Is Us and Paradise. And if there's one thing Fogelman knows how to do, it's take complicated family relationships and make everybody's business our business. Now he's bringing that talent to the NFL, where the stakes are high, the expectations are ridiculous, and everybody has something to prove.

Christopher Meloni stars as Danny Roarke, the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, who is running out of chances to turn the struggling franchise around. After several disappointing seasons, the pressure is on to deliver results, and unfortunately for Danny, his future might depend on someone he can't exactly leave at the office.

His son. That's right. Danny's last shot at saving his career rests on a newly drafted quarterback from Ohio State who also happens to be his own child. Because coaching an NFL team wasn't stressful enough, let's throw a father-son relationship into the mix. What could possibly go wrong? And while Danny is trying to save his job on the field, there's another family dealing with its own problems upstairs.

Team owner Hal Durkin, played by William H. Macy, has a major decision to make about the future of the franchise. He must choose which of his two daughters is better suited to take over the organization, setting up a potential family power struggle that could be every bit as messy as whatever happens on game day. Let's be serious. Putting a billion-dollar football organization, family expectations, and sibling competition in the same room? Somebody is leaving that meeting mad.

The newly released trailer gives audiences their latest look at a series built around two families whose personal relationships are tangled up in the future of one NFL franchise. The pressure isn't just about winning football games. It's about control, loyalty, expectations, and what happens when the people making the biggest decisions also happen to share a last name.

And that's where The Land could really get interesting. We've seen plenty of sports dramas about underdog teams fighting their way to victory, but Fogelman has built his reputation on exploring what happens behind the public-facing version of a family. With This Is Us, he had viewers emotionally invested in the Pearsons for years, while Paradise proved he could take family drama into an entirely different genre.

Now he's stepping into professional football, where the scoreboard might be the easiest problem to understand.

The ensemble cast includes Mandy Moore, Chace Crawford, Sam Corlett, Tanner Zagarino, Chloe Bennet, Bridget Moynahan, and Omar Epps alongside Meloni and Macy.

And honestly, between that cast and Fogelman's track record, there's plenty to be curious about. The football setting provides the spectacle, but the relationships between these two families could be what keeps viewers coming back. After all, a bad season can get a coach fired, but family drama has a way of following you home.

The bigger question is whether The Land can make viewers care just as much about the people running the team as they do about what happens on the field. Because if Danny can't turn things around, he's not just looking at another disappointing season. His entire career could be on the line, and his son is right in the middle of it. No pressure, kid.

When Does ‘The Land’ Premiere on Hulu?

The Land premieres February 15, 2027, on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the United States. The series will also stream internationally on Disney+.

With an NFL franchise fighting for its future, two families caught in the middle, and Dan Fogelman pulling the storytelling strings, we're expecting plenty of drama both on and off the field.

And considering this is the man who gave us This Is Us, don't be surprised if somebody has us crying over a football game.
