Two women smile at a rustic bar, mugs in front of them, with patrons and cowboy hats in the warm, cozy background.

Happy’s Place is getting ready to reopen its doors, and Season 3 looks like it is bringing plenty of personal complications along with it. NBC has released the official trailer for the upcoming season of the Reba McEntire-led comedy, which returns Friday, October 23 at 8 p.m.

The series follows Bobbie, played by McEntire, after she inherits her late father’s tavern and discovers she has a younger half-sister, Isabella, played by Belissa Escobedo. What began as an unexpected partnership has gradually turned into a found-family story centered around the staff and regulars at Happy’s Place.

Season 3 appears ready to shake up several of those relationships. One of the biggest questions heading into the new season involves Bobbie and Emmett. Their romantic relationship may have reached an end, but the real test will be whether the two can actually settle into friendship without old feelings getting in the way.

Elsewhere, Isabella’s speakeasy is becoming increasingly successful, and that growth will begin influencing the way she approaches both her work and her personal life.

Gabby is also facing a very different kind of adjustment now that her mother has moved to Knoxville and the two are living together. Anyone who has ever moved back in with family probably already knows how smoothly that can go.

Steve, meanwhile, is looking to make some changes of his own as he decides it is time to stop letting his OCD keep him from fully living his life. Takoda will also encounter new challenges that could change the way the people around the bar see him.

Whatever gets thrown at them, the core of Happy’s Place remains the same: this group may drive one another crazy from time to time, but when things get messy, they show up for each other.

McEntire returns alongside Escobedo, Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn.

Kevin Abbott and Julie Abbott created the series. Kevin Abbott executive produces alongside McEntire, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Pamela Fryman, Julie Abbott and Franco Bario. Universal Television produces the comedy.

Happy’s Place Season 3 premieres Friday, October 23 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
