General Hospital Weekly Recap: Brennan Is Dead — And Drew and Ava Bury the Body

General Hospital had A LOT happening this week, but there is really only one place to begin: Jack Brennan appears to be dead, and somehow Drew and Ava have found themselves in the middle of covering it up. Yes, friend, we have officially reached burying bodies on Quartermaine property levels of messy, and there are already enough clues floating around Port Charles to make you wonder how long they can possibly keep this secret.

Jack Brennan Disappears as a New WSB Agent Arrives

Things begin going sideways when Ava spikes Jack Brennan’s drink. Brennan finishes the entire thing and soon becomes hot, tipsy, and visibly affected. He heads toward his room to take a call but stumbles as he enters the elevator, setting the stage for what becomes one of the week’s biggest mysteries.

Josslyn realizes something is seriously wrong when Brennan fails to appear for a debrief and doesn’t report to work. She calls in a D-7-1 WSB Missing Agent Alert, which brings a new face to Port Charles when WSB Agent William Baines arrives at Brennan’s office just as Josslyn is preparing to leave. Played by Alimi Ballard, Baines makes his debut as the agent assigned to investigate Chief Brennan’s disappearance. Welcome to Port Charles, Agent Baines. Your first assignment is already a whole mess.

Charlotte and Danny Find Brennan’s Body

Brennan isn’t simply missing, because Charlotte and Danny discover what appears to be his body floating in the Metro Court pool after it has already closed for the season. You would think discovering a seemingly dead WSB chief would result in someone immediately calling the police, but Danny doesn’t want to get in trouble, so the two leave Brennan exactly where they found him and tell absolutely no one.

Their decision could come back to haunt them when Charlotte realizes she has lost her bracelet. Somehow, it ends up caught on the left sleeve of Brennan’s suit jacket despite Charlotte not touching him. That little piece of jewelry could become a major problem if Brennan’s body is eventually discovered and investigators begin trying to figure out exactly who was around him.

Meanwhile, Drew makes another calculated move against Nina by planting Brennan’s wallet in her car, potentially implicating her in his disappearance. At this point, Drew is collecting enemies and questionable decisions like they are frequent-flyer miles, and this latest move could drag Nina directly into an investigation surrounding Brennan.

Drew and Ava Bury Brennan

Ava and Drew eventually head to the Metro Court pool as part of their attempt to establish an alibi, only to discover Brennan’s body themselves. Rather than report what they have found, the two decide they need to get rid of the body and devise a plan to bury Brennan in an unmarked grave on the Quartermaine family’s nature preserve near the family crypt. Apparently, Port Charles didn’t already have enough secrets buried on Quartermaine property.

There is already a potential problem with their plan because Outback keeps running off and eventually returns to the area where Brennan was buried. The dog begins digging around his unmarked grave, and if Outback is the one who blows this entire cover-up wide open, somebody better give that dog a contract and a storyline of her own.

Ava may have also unknowingly carried away another clue from the burial site when a tick is discovered behind her left ear. Nina initially removes it, but Ava refuses to reveal where she picked it up. Isaiah later identifies the tick and tells Ava that he needs to know its location because he plans to send the information and the tick to the CDC while also reporting it to the local public health department. Ava lies and claims she doesn’t know where she got it, but considering where she has recently been, that tiny tick could become a very inconvenient piece of evidence.

Drew’s War Creates Even More Problems

Before Brennan’s apparent death, Drew had already taken his war against him to another level. He loads a virus onto Carly’s office computer, shuts down the Metro Court security system, and breaks into Brennan’s hotel room searching for the documents Brennan has been using to blackmail him. Ava warns Drew that Brennan is on his way, adding another piece to the increasingly complicated timeline surrounding Brennan’s disappearance.

Unfortunately for Drew, Carly and Valentin have made a discovery of their own. They find Drew’s business plan outlining his attempt to reenter the corporate world and decide to keep it as potential ammunition against him. Laura also tries to broker peace between Drew and Sonny, but her efforts fail as the feud between the two men continues.

Drew later has another problem to worry about when he discovers Scout has snuck out of the house. He heads to Sonny and angrily demands to know where his daughter is, giving Drew yet another crisis while the Brennan situation continues hanging over his head.

Curtis Gets a Very Unwelcome Cellmate

Curtis arrives at his Pentonville prison cell this week and discovers that he won’t exactly be serving his time alone because his new cellmate is Jenz Sidwell. As if being in prison wasn’t stressful enough, Curtis now has to share his space with Sidwell, which certainly doesn’t make his situation any easier.

The development immediately puts two characters with plenty of complicated history and connections into extremely close quarters. In Port Charles, putting Curtis and Sidwell together in a prison cell feels like the kind of situation viewers should definitely keep an eye on.

Trina and Gio Make Their Cat’s Eye Debut

Thankfully, the week wasn’t entirely murder, blackmail, prison, and suspicious ticks. Trina and Gio finally make their debut at the Cat’s Eye Lounge in front of a packed house, and the performance is a success. They perform three songs, although viewers only get to hear one complete song and portions of the others.

Their performance of “Prayer” is a standout, and Trina and Gio also perform a duet before the scene changes after only a portion of the song. Emma and Kai proudly support “Trino” from the audience and make it clear that they are the duo’s number-one fans, giving Trina and Gio a major moment to celebrate.

Unfortunately, someone else is watching Trina too, and for much more disturbing reasons. Her mysterious stalker adds a new photograph from the Cat’s Eye performance to the creepy collage devoted to her. Whatever is happening with this storyline, the person targeting Trina is clearly continuing to follow her movements, turning what should have been a happy night into another piece of the stalker’s obsession.

Trina Makes Another Major Discovery

Trina also accidentally overhears an argument between Brook Lynn and Chase in the Quartermaine kitchen and realizes Brook Lynn may have been the unidentified driver connected to the night of Jordan’s accident. Instead of sitting on what she heard, Trina decides to confront the situation directly.

During the Quartermaine Labor Day party, Trina asks Brook Lynn in front of everyone whether she was the unknown driver that night. Between her stalker storyline and this latest discovery involving Brook Lynn, Trina continues finding herself right in the middle of some major Port Charles drama.

Anna Lures Britt to Mt. Emerson

Elsewhere, Britt finds herself in serious danger after Anna gets her to drive out to Mt. Emerson and appears prepared to kill her. Tristan previously told Jason that he heard Britt mention Mt. Emerson before she left General Hospital, potentially giving Jason an important clue about where Britt has gone and a chance to reach her before it is too late.

Earlier, Britt shares a surprisingly open conversation with Willow at the Metro Court bar. The two women commiserate over their respective relationship problems and other issues, with Britt even mentioning Patrick before offering Willow a pep talk. Dante later turns to Britt for help with Rocco, explaining that his son has become distant and withdrawn and that he worries Rocco may be hiding something.

Chase and Dante Talk Family as Danny Comes Clean

Chase has his own heart-to-heart with Dante and admits he may struggle with Willow living at the gatehouse again. Dante helps his friend work through those feelings and offers some much-needed advice, while elsewhere Danny and Charlotte nearly add breaking into Drew’s Aurora office to their growing list of questionable adventures.

Danny and Charlotte plan to search Drew’s office for something they could use to blackmail him, but Carly and Valentin arrive with a package for Drew before they can put their plan into action. The interruption forces the pair to abandon their plans, at least for the moment.

Danny eventually comes clean about some of his other recent behavior after Outback runs away and Chase asks Charlotte to find the dog while he talks with Danny. Danny accepts full responsibility for taking the speedboat and Chase’s truck, but he insists he wasn’t responsible for taking Brook Lynn’s BMW and scratching the side of it.

Danny later tells Jason the truth about taking Chase’s truck, leading to a meaningful father-son conversation. Jason handles the situation with some strong parenting, allowing Danny to take responsibility for what he did while also giving his son the opportunity to be honest with him.

Scout and Rocco Grow Closer

Lulu and Dante decide it may finally be time to ease up on their helicopter parenting of Rocco. They agree to give their son more room to make mistakes, build his confidence, and grow up, which comes at an interesting time considering just how much closer he and Scout are becoming.

Scout becomes angry while defending Drew to her brother, and Rocco is there to support her. The two also overhear Willow and Chase talking about their feelings, which leaves Scout furious. Rocco helps calm her down and encourages her to think through the situation logically, and Scout appreciates how he always seems to know the right way to help when she is upset.

Their growing connection eventually becomes romantic when Scout and Rocco share one last swim in the lake before

summer ends. The two share their first kiss, giving the week a much sweeter development amid all the bodies, blackmail, stalking, and family drama happening elsewhere in Port Charles.

Jack Brennan’s apparent death easily dominates the week because there are so many pieces of this story that could come back to haunt everyone involved. Drew and Ava may believe burying Brennan solves their immediate problem, but Charlotte’s missing bracelet, Brennan’s wallet being planted in Nina’s car, Ava’s mysterious tick, and Outback literally digging around the grave suggest this cover-up is already getting dangerously complicated.

I’m also not completely ready to close the book on Brennan until General Hospital makes it absolutely undeniable. This is a soap opera and the WSB we’re talking about, so seeing what appears to be a dead body doesn’t necessarily mean we should start writing the obituary. For now, though, Brennan’s disappearance and apparent death have created a mystery that could drag several Port Charles residents down with it.

Trina’s storyline also deserves attention because her Cat’s Eye debut should have been a moment for her to simply celebrate. Instead, the reveal that her stalker was watching adds another disturbing layer to the story, while her discovery involving Brook Lynn places her in the middle of another mystery at the same time.

Then there is Anna and Britt, whose storyline has suddenly become much more dangerous at Mt. Emerson. With Jason potentially having the clue that could lead him to Britt, there is still a chance he could intervene before Anna does something that can’t be undone.

Finally, Scout and Rocco’s first kiss gave the week a little sweetness amid everything else happening in Port Charles. After apparent murder, body disposal, blackmail, stalking, prison drama, and a dog trying to dig up a secret grave, we definitely needed something nice.
