How Did Erika Alexander Prepare For The Role
Well known over the years for her stellar comedic performances, Alexander graced the movie screens in the 2024 award winning film, American Fiction. It was right after that project she went to Vancouver to meet her new cast and join season 3 of Invasion.
When asked how she prepared for the role, Alexander said she had been preparing for it her whole life. “I try to do things very authentically and keep things simple,” Alexander said. “Sometimes when you don’t know, do less. And that’s what I try to do, not to make big choices.”
Alexander also shared that Simon Kinberg, the showrunner of Invasion, chose her for a reason and that she had all the qualities needed for the character. It was important for her to be calm and relaxed in that space for her to bring what her character needed - discipline.
Truth Tellers Driving Story
Alexander plays a pivotal role which had a major reveal at the end of episode four [Spoiler] where the audience learned Vera is Marylin Tanner aka Infinitas.
Honesty is a driving purpose for Infinitas which was a familiar concept for Alexander to tap into. Growing up in a home with a preacher Father and her mom a minister, Alexander was very familiar with truth tellers. Knowing how to adapt inside tough situations, Alexander believes truth telling is sometimes survival skills that you learn, and Verna embodies that skill set.
Booked & Busy: Up and Coming Projects
Alexander along with her cohost Kim Coles launched the popular podcast, “ReLiving Single” which takes you on ride back to the 90s as they reminisce on their groundbreaking sitcom “Living Single.” The podcast has reached #1 on both Spotify's & Apple's top TV/Film podcast charts.
Alexander will also return to primetime tv with Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe in NBC’s “The Fall & Rise of Reggie Dinkins” with executive producer Tina Fey. Also look out for her to be back on the big screen next summer in the movie adaptation of IS GOD IS – a stage play by Alesha Harris which will also star Sterling K. Brown, Vivica A. Fox, and Janelle Monae.
