Is Rue Finally Growing Up? Zendaya Just Dropped a Major Hint That Euphoria Season 3 is the End

Gather 'round, Glitter-Ready Teens (and the exhausted adults who watch them). It’s time to face the music or at least the moody, synth-heavy Labrinth score. After years of delays, Rue Bennett might finally be hanging up her oversized hoodie for good. During a recent sit-down on The Drew Barrymore Show, our favorite fashion icon and Emmy-winning relapser, Zendaya, essentially confirmed what we’ve all been suspecting: Euphoria Season 3 is likely the series finale.

When Barrymore asked the question we’ve all been screaming into our pillows since 2022, Zendaya didn't exactly plead the fifth. "I think so, yeah," she admitted, adding that "closure is coming." It’s a bittersweet pill to swallow, but let’s be honest—how many more times can we watch these "teenagers" commit light felonies before it becomes a bit ridiculous?

The Five-Year Jump: Out of the Hallways, Into the Real World

The most interesting tidbit to come out of the promo circuit is the confirmed five-year time jump. We are officially leaving East Highland High behind, which is a relief because seeing 28-year-old actors pretend to worry about SATs was starting to feel like a fever dream.

The upcoming season, set to premiere this Sunday, April 12, on HBO and Max, looks to find the cast in various states of adult disarray. Rumor has it Rue is currently dodging debts in Mexico, classic Rue while the suburban nightmare of Nate and Cassie continues to fester in the form of wedding planning. Because nothing says "happily ever after" like a relationship built entirely on betrayal and mascara tears.

New Faces in the Neighborhood

While we’re saying goodbye to some, we’re welcoming a few heavy hitters. The legendary Sharon Stone joins the cast as a high-powered executive, alongside Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Deadwyler. If Sam Levinson can manage to give these icons more than three lines of dialogue, we might actually be in for a treat.

Zendaya mentioned that the filming process was a sprint, knocking out eight episodes in just four months. For a show that usually takes longer to produce than a literal human child, that’s lightning speed. It suggests a focused, intentional ending rather than the sprawling, aimless plotlines that occasionally bogged down the second season.

The End of an Era

Is it sad? Sure. Is it necessary? Absolutely. Euphoria changed the landscape of teen dramas, trading Dawson’s Creek earnestness for glitter-caked trauma and prestige cinematography. But all good benders must come to an end. While HBO is staying quiet on the "official" finale status, the writing is on the wall and it’s written in neon eyeliner.

Will Rue find the peace she’s been chasing, or will Season 3 leave us all in a depressive slump? We’ll find out this Sunday. In the meantime, head over to the comments and let us know: Are you ready to say goodbye, or do you think there’s more story to tell?
