Erika Alexander and Precious Way Tease The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Season 2

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is preparing for another season of laughs, family drama, and questionable decisions. While Reggie continues his quest to rebuild his reputation, the women in his life have some interesting developments of their own, including a new romance that could leave the former football star feeling a little uncomfortable.
The TV Cave recently sat down with Erika Alexander and Precious Way for an exclusive interview about what's coming in Season 2. The actresses opened up about Monica and Brina's evolving relationship, the arrival of Boris Kodjoe, and how their characters are finding their own paths while dealing with the ongoing chaos surrounding Reggie. And from what they revealed, it sounds like the women are getting some well-deserved attention this season.
Boris Kodjoe Is Shaking Things Up for Monica
Monica Reese-Dinkins has spent plenty of time managing Reggie's problems, but Season 2 is giving her something considerably more enjoyable to focus on. Boris Kodjoe is joining the comedy as a new love interest for Monica, and Erika Alexander couldn't have been more excited to discuss his arrival.
During our conversation, Alexander praised Kodjoe's acting abilities, comedic timing, and familiarity with the mockumentary format. She also teased how his character's presence creates an interesting situation for Reggie, who isn't exactly accustomed to watching another man shower Monica with affection.
That's a dynamic we're particularly interested in seeing unfold. Reggie has spent so much time being the center of attention that watching Monica enjoy a romantic life outside of him could be an entertaining adjustment, especially considering Tracy Morgan's talent for turning uncomfortable situations into comedy.
Alexander also shared some amusing behind-the-scenes observations about working with Kodjoe, including why she believes he's a perfect fit for the show's brand of humor. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and we're looking forward to seeing that chemistry onscreen.
Monica and Brina's Friendship Continues to Grow
One of the more enjoyable surprises from the show's first season was the developing relationship between Monica and Brina. You wouldn't necessarily expect Reggie's ex-wife and his fiancée to form a friendship, but their interactions have become part of what makes this unconventional family so entertaining.
When we asked Precious Way whether Monica's new romance would change their relationship, she had a hilarious response.
"I'm glad that she has a man, because I have to continuously remind her, this is my house now," Way joked.
That pretty much sums up what makes these two so much fun together. Brina isn't afraid to remind Monica that she's the woman in Reggie's life now, but there's also a genuine connection developing between them that goes beyond their shared relationship with him.
Way discussed how Brina has become someone Monica can turn to for relationship advice, adding another layer to their unexpected friendship. She also shared a funny memory from filming with Alexander and Kodjoe that we'll let her tell herself in the full interview.
Monica's Redemption Story Goes Deeper Than Reggie
Although Monica's love life will provide some welcome comedy, Alexander made it clear that her character has a more complicated emotional journey ahead. Much of Monica's identity has been tied to Reggie's career and her determination to help him recover from his mistakes. But as Alexander explained, Monica's investment in his comeback has as much to do with her own decisions as it does with Reggie's future.
"The rise of Reggie Dinkins means redemption for her," Alexander told The TV Cave.
It's an interesting perspective on a character who often appears to have everything figured out. Monica has spent years standing behind Reggie, and helping him regain the public's trust could also mean coming to terms with the sacrifices she's made along the way. Alexander spoke thoughtfully about forgiveness, personal accountability, and what it means to give someone a second chance. Without revealing her entire response, it was one of the most compelling parts of our conversation and offered some insight into Monica's motivations heading into Season 2.
Perhaps the biggest change is that Monica is beginning to follow some of the advice she's so comfortable giving everyone else. With a new relationship on the horizon, she might finally be ready to prioritize her own happiness instead of constantly managing Reggie's problems.
Brina Has Big Plans of Her Own
Of course, Brina isn't spending all her time worrying about Monica's romantic adventures. Precious Way revealed that her character is continuing to pursue her music career, with some interesting creative developments ahead.
According to Way, Brina will be exploring different musical genres as she works toward her ambitions. It's encouraging to hear that the character's professional goals remain an important part of her storyline, particularly as she navigates life with Reggie and his complicated family.
But her music career isn't the only thing keeping her busy. Way also teased an upcoming meeting with Brina's future mother-in-law, which immediately raised a few questions about how that encounter might unfold.
Considering the personalities involved, we're not expecting an ordinary family introduction. Way didn't reveal too much about what happens, but the tease was enough to make us curious about what the writers have planned.
Could We See a Living Single Reunion?
We also couldn't resist asking Erika Alexander about the possibility of a Living Single reunion on The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. With the beloved sitcom back in the conversation lately, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to find out whether any familiar faces might be making an appearance.
Alexander confirmed that no former Living Single castmates are scheduled to guest-star, but she was certainly entertained by the suggestion. In fact, she had a particular former co-star in mind who would make a fun addition to the series.
We won't spoil her entire reaction here, because it's worth watching in the interview below. But for longtime Living Single fans, the idea she entertained would certainly make for a memorable television reunion.
Season 2 Promises Comedy, Heart and Plenty of Family Chaos
Before ending our conversation, we challenged Alexander and Way to describe Season 2 in just three words. Naturally, the actresses had a little fun with the question, and their responses perfectly captured the energy of a show that knows how to balance outrageous comedy with genuine emotional moments.
What stood out most throughout our interview was how much both actresses enjoy these characters and the relationships they've developed. Whether they were discussing Monica's new romance, Brina's ambitions, or their characters' unlikely friendship, their enthusiasm made it clear that there's plenty more story to explore.
With Reggie still chasing redemption and the women around him increasingly focused on their own futures, Season 2 has the opportunity to expand beyond one man's attempt at a comeback. The family dynamic remains central to the comedy, but Monica and Brina are proving that they have stories worth telling outside of Reggie's orbit.
And frankly, after everything Monica has dealt with, we're more than ready to see her have a little fun. Whether Reggie can handle that is an entirely different question.
Watch The TV Cave's exclusive interview with Erika Alexander and Precious Way below for more on Boris Kodjoe's arrival, the possibility of a Living Single reunion, Brina's upcoming storylines, and what fans can expect from Season 2.
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins returns for Season 2 on NBC November 2 at 9/8c, with episodes also available to stream on Peacock.
