Sarah thanks Stephanie and Alex for not exposing her, and they agree that Xander cannot handle another betrayal. Later, as Sarah tries to catch her breath, Xander returns and announces that he must work with Phillip to overturn the takeover.
Roman visits the hospital to check on EJ, surprising his sister. She informs him there’s not much they can do; EJ is in a coma, and Susan is visiting him. During her visit, Susan attempts to use her psychic connection to figure out who shot her son. Kayla comes in, and they discuss EJ’s condition. Soon after, Belle arrives and says they’re just waiting for EJ to wake up. Belle admits to Susan that she has feelings for EJ.
Meanwhile, Rex, Kate, and Roman discuss the shooting and the possible motives around town. After Rex and Roman leave, Phillip tells Kate everything that happened with Xander and how he was kicked out of the house. Kate believes Victor would have wanted Phillip in the will, and they talk about how hard it will be for him to stay out of jail.
Belle and Susan continue talking about Belle’s feelings for EJ—when suddenly, EJ wakes up. Belle rushes to get a doctor. When Susan speaks with EJ, he remembers Belle wearing a wire, shocking Susan after Belle had claimed to love him. EJ directly asks Belle if it’s true.
At Horton Town Square, Gabi ignores a call from JJ. Cat joins her, and they talk about how Cat and Chad are just friends, and how Gabi ended things with JJ after he questioned if she shot EJ. Soon, Susan arrives, and she and Gabi exchange harsh words. When Susan points her finger, Gabi brushes it away. Susan accuses Gabi of being at the DiMera mansion when EJ was shot, but Gabi denies it and calls Susan crazy before rushing off. Later at the hospital, Susan claims she now knows who shot EJ.
Johnny visits Chad and thanks him for saving EJ. Although grateful, Johnny admits he’s not ready to forgive his father. Belle calls Chad to tell him EJ is awake. Chad goes to the hospital while Johnny stays behind, flashing back to the gun.
At the hospital, EJ thanks Chad for saving his life, and Chad apologizes for the negative article he wrote about him. EJ talks about remembering seeing Belle and Chanel but says his memory beyond that is hazy. Chad promises to find whoever shot him.
Meanwhile, Chanel speaks with her mother about Johnny’s struggles, which is partly why they decide not to attend the fundraiser. Amy from the adoption agency arrives and, after hearing about Chanel and Johnny’s situation, approves the adoption, stating EJ will have no contact with the baby.
Sophia and Tate discuss her labor plans, and Tate expresses his wish to be there. They receive a text from Amy approving the adoption. Excited, they head to Paulina’s home to sign the adoption papers. Later, when Johnny arrives, Chanel shares the good news, but he doesn’t seem as excited.
The hospital fundraiser begins, transforming Horton Town Square. At the Horton home, JJ tells Chad he messed up with Gabi and wasn’t planning on attending, but Thomas and Charlotte convince him. At the fair, they run into Cat, who offers to do their face painting.
Elsewhere, Javi and Leo discuss Alex being on the auction block. Gabi joins them, and they persuade her to come to the fair to distract herself from JJ. They eventually head over to the Brady Pub where the bachelor auction is being held.
Stephanie encourages Alex to participate in the auction despite being in a relationship, reminding him it’s for a good cause and they can set boundaries.
Sarah dreams about her role in the forgery being exposed. Later, at the fair, tensions rise when Xander sees Phillip. Xander lashes out, but JJ steps in to calm things down. Xander demands Phillip’s arrest but quickly backtracks, lying that no fraud has occurred. JJ leaves, and Phillip thanks Xander, though Xander remains upset. Sarah apologizes to Phillip and worries that if Xander finds out her role, it could end their marriage. Phillip promises to keep her secret—while Xander secretly watches them.

Cat encourages JJ about winning Gabi back. JJ leaves to question EJ. Meanwhile, Maggie and Chad discuss Abigail and the children, which Cat overhears.
Maggie congratulates Kayla on the fundraiser’s success. Before joining Sarah and Xander, Maggie chats with them about being civil with Phillip. Xander vents about betrayal, and Sarah plays along. After Xander leaves, Sarah confides in Maggie, wondering if she should be honest. Maggie isn’t sure what’s best. When Xander returns, he vows to be civil for the sake of their companies, though Maggie asks him to show compassion—which Xander doubts he can offer. As the fair ends, Maggie donates one million dollars, exciting everyone.
Later, Cat and Chad are together when Rachel mistakes Cat for Abigail. They clarify things, and Chad walks away.

Alone, EJ remembers finding a recording device.
Back at the fair, Kristen offers Xander a deal, but when he refuses, she throws a drink in his face. Xander removes his wet shirt, Kristen walks away with Rachel, and Xander and Sarah leave to have “adult time.” JJ contacts Tripp to reach out to Ava, and Tripp reveals Ava is now at a monastery. Meanwhile, Brady and Paulina discuss the adoption and agree it’s the best decision.

After Gabi leaves, Rafe tries to access the memory card but finds nothing. Brady meets Gabi to discuss a possible Basic Black and Gabi Chic collaboration. However, when Gabi asks for help getting out of her contract, Brady refuses, feeling she overestimates his influence and because of her past betrayal with Stefan.
At the station, Shawn D. and Jada discuss EJ’s shooting and suspect Ava. Shawn goes to question EJ while Jada stays to speak with Rafe.
