Days of Our Lives Weekly Recap: Marlena’s Shocking Discovery and Johnny Turns on EJ

Salem was filled with shocking revelations, painful accusations, dangerous secrets, and family betrayals this week on Days of Our Lives. Marlena Evans struggled to process a discovery that could change everything she believed about her past, while Sarah Horton found herself fighting to protect her medical career from a devastating public attack. Meanwhile, Johnny DiMera reached a turning point in his battle with his conscience, and Xander Kiriakis prepared to make EJ DiMera pay for targeting the woman he loves. As Holly Jonas wrestled with guilt, Philip Kiriakis attempted to put his gambling troubles behind him, and Chanel DiMera's baby shower became an unforgettable gathering for all the wrong reasons.
Marlena's Shocking Discovery Threatens to Rewrite Her Past
Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) began the week desperate to understand the birth certificate that listed her as the mother of Dominic Marino. The document raised disturbing questions about Stefano DiMera's (Joseph Mascolo) past schemes and the years Marlena spent imprisoned on his island. Although Dominic's age appeared to fit that period, Marlena struggled to accept what the certificate seemed to suggest. She begged Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) to keep the discovery secret until they could establish the truth, and Steve proposed locating Dominic and obtaining DNA evidence. However, Steve soon shared the information with Brady Black (Eric Martsolf), who promised to protect Marlena and help uncover the answers she desperately needed.
As the week progressed, Marlena's uncertainty gave way to anger and suspicion. She questioned how Dominic could be her son when she maintained that Stefano had never sexually touched her during her captivity. Could Stefano have found another way to manipulate her life, or was the birth certificate part of an elaborate deception? With the possibility of Dominic's parentage hanging over her, Marlena struggled to find peace without John Black (Drake Hogestyn) by her side. Brady promised to help locate Dominic, while Steve pursued another lead by investigating fingerprints connected to the concert program that had helped uncover the mystery.
By Friday, Marlena was ready to confront Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney) directly. Armed with evidence linking Rita to the program, Marlena demanded answers about Dominic and Stefano's plans. Unfortunately, their conversation took an alarming turn when EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) walked in and heard Marlena ask whether Dominic was her son with Stefano. After everything Marlena had endured, she was closer than ever to discovering the truth, but EJ's unexpected arrival threatened to complicate the investigation just when she needed answers most.
Sarah's Career Hangs in the Balance as Xander Takes on EJ
Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) continued to face mounting pressure from the wrongful-death lawsuit involving Destiny. Fearing that the allegations could permanently damage her reputation as a doctor, Sarah struggled to imagine how she would recover even if she were ultimately cleared. Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) refused to stand by while the woman he loved suffered, promising to help her fight back. Although Brady Black continued working on the investigation, Xander made it clear that his determination to protect Sarah would not waver.
Xander soon confronted EJ at the DiMera mansion, accusing him of manipulating the legal battle against Sarah and insisting that the truth about Destiny's medical records would eventually come out. EJ denied wrongdoing and maintained that he was protecting his interests, but Xander remained convinced that his rival was using the lawsuit to destroy Sarah. Their confrontation only intensified the feud between the two men, leaving Xander determined to find the evidence needed to expose EJ.
The situation became even more painful when Melinda Trask (Tina Huang), the attorney representing Destiny's parents, publicly accused Sarah of negligence and medical malpractice during a television appearance. Sarah watched in horror as her professional reputation was attacked before Salem. Xander stood beside her, offering reassurance when she feared that everyone would begin viewing her as a dishonest and incompetent physician. Sarah also turned to Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) for comfort, admitting how much she depended on Xander during the ordeal.
However, Melinda's public accusations raised additional questions about EJ's involvement. Before the broadcast, Melinda had spoken with EJ and assured him that the matter was being handled. Afterward, she returned to him with questions of her own. While no one had definitively established EJ's role in the case, the circumstances surrounding the broadcast left plenty of room for suspicion.
Just when EJ might have expected another victory, Xander and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) delivered an unexpected blow. The two men presented EJ with a check that secured the money needed to save Titan, leaving him stunned. Xander warned that EJ would not escape accountability for what he had done to Sarah. With Titan's immediate financial crisis addressed and Sarah's legal troubles far from over, the battle between the Kiriakis and DiMera families was becoming increasingly personal.
Johnny's Conscience Finally Gets the Better of Him
Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) spent the week struggling with the consequences of his father's actions and his own role in the controversy surrounding DiMera Pharmaceuticals. An email from George O'Halloran concerning the lawsuit against Sarah pushed Johnny closer to the breaking point. He could no longer ignore the possibility that protecting EJ was allowing innocent people to suffer. Determined to make things right, Johnny decided he needed to tell the authorities what he knew.
When Johnny confided in his sister Sydney DiMera (last portrayed by Ashley Puzemis), her initial support quickly turned to panic. Sydney warned that a confession could expose both of them to criminal consequences and urged him to let the FDA investigation proceed without volunteering additional information. Johnny understood the risks, but his growing guilt made it increasingly difficult to remain silent. He also promised Chanel DiMera (Raven Bowens) that he would explain everything once he had taken care of the situation, leaving his wife unaware of just how serious the trouble surrounding his family had become.
Johnny eventually reached out to Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering), setting the stage for a major confrontation with the DiMera family. On Friday, Johnny finally told Rafe that the FDA complaints against DiMera Pharmaceuticals were legitimate and that EJ knew about the contaminated Coriseal situation. He also explained that George had coached him to deny and deflect responsibility. Johnny understood that his confession could implicate him in the cover-up, but he no longer wanted to protect his father at the expense of others.
Rafe appreciated Johnny's willingness to tell the truth but warned him that EJ might never forgive the betrayal. He also made it clear that Johnny would not have to face the consequences alone. Unfortunately, Johnny's decision threatened to expose more than just EJ's secrets. Sydney's fear of prison suggested that she, too, could become caught in the fallout, while EJ continued to believe he could rely on his son.
With Johnny finally choosing honesty over loyalty to his father, the DiMera family's carefully guarded secrets were in danger of unraveling. The question now was how much damage EJ would suffer once he discovered that his own son had turned to Rafe.
Philip Faces His Gambling Problems While Kate Grows Suspicious
Philip Kiriakis continued attempting to rebuild his life after his gambling troubles, but his latest actions left Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) questioning whether he had truly changed. Kate confronted Philip about his gambling and pressed him to explain his plans for the future. Philip insisted that he intended to honor his commitment to recovery meetings and wanted to help save Titan before returning to a more active role in the family business. Nevertheless, his explanations did not completely reassure his mother.
The situation became more complicated when Kate learned that Philip had been working with Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) on a scheme connected to EJ. Leo's plan involved following the money associated with counterfeit Gabi Chic merchandise, and Philip believed the financial trail could expose wrongdoing. When Kate questioned him about the arrangement, Philip offered an explanation that concealed the full extent of his involvement. He even gave her a scarf from Monte Carlo, briefly distracting her from the questions she wanted to answer.
Philip eventually came clean with Maggie Kiriakis about his gambling-related decisions and returned the ring he had borrowed from her, a keepsake from her late son Daniel. Maggie was relieved to have it back and pleased to learn that Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) had helped Philip financially. The revelation also confirmed that Philip and Gabi were giving their relationship another chance.
By Thursday, Philip and Xander had joined forces to secure Titan's future and confront EJ with the money that saved the company. Their success offered Philip an opportunity to prove that he could contribute something meaningful to the family, but his history with gambling remained a concern. With Kate still watching him closely, Philip would need to demonstrate that his latest plans were about more than another risky gamble.
Holly and Mason Struggle With Guilt and Regret
Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) continued to struggle with the emotional weight of her past, and her unresolved feelings became more apparent as she spent time with Tate Black (Leo Howard) and Mason Whitfield (Randy Davison). When Tate encountered Mason at the gym, he confronted him about his history with Holly and demanded an explanation for their strained relationship. Mason eventually admitted that he had once spoken with someone on a hotline who frequently discussed Holly. He had worried about her well-being, and his inability to help had left him feeling responsible for what happened.
Mason acknowledged that he had taken his frustration and guilt out on Holly, even though she had been dealing with her own pain. Tate listened as Mason explained that he felt he had failed someone who needed him. Their conversation helped both men recognize that regret could not change the past, even when they wished they had acted differently.
Holly, meanwhile, remained haunted by her own guilt. At one point, she thought she saw the person connected to her painful memories, only to realize that her emotions were affecting how she interpreted what was happening around her. Although she began seeing Mason's behavior differently after Tate shared their conversation, she remained convinced that it might be too late to repair the damage between them.
As Holly tried to move forward, she also joined Lani Price (Sal Stowers) for an appearance on Leo Stark's podcast. The interview gave Lani an opportunity to tell her side of the story surrounding the incident with Ray Coates, while Holly's presence added another layer to her ongoing emotional journey. For both women, speaking publicly offered a chance to reclaim some control over their narratives, even as private struggles continued to follow them.
Lani Considers Her Future as Paulina Pushes for a Pardon
Lani Price faced a difficult decision when Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) continued encouraging her to seek a pardon. Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) urged his wife to consider the possibility of moving forward, reminding her that she had acted to save her mother's life and had already endured the consequences of her actions. Lani remained reluctant, insisting that she had served her sentence because she believed she deserved it.
Her appearance on Leo's podcast, however, gave her an opportunity to explain what happened in her own words. Lani described why she had confronted Ray Coates and why she believed her actions were necessary to protect Paulina. Leo praised her instincts and suggested that she still had a future in law enforcement. Although Lani appreciated being able to tell her side of the story, she had not yet decided whether she would accept her mother's offer to seek a pardon.
The question of Lani's future also connected to the larger family tensions surrounding Paulina, Abe Carver (James Reynolds), and Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews). Theo had confided in Paulina about his frustrations with DiMera, explaining that Johnny's determination to protect EJ had become too much for him to tolerate. Meanwhile, Joy Wesley's medical situation continued to raise concerns, adding another layer of uncertainty to the lives of those trying to help her.
Joy Takes a Dangerous Risk as Her Medical Troubles Continue
Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) faced another difficult week as her health problems continued to worsen. Her nerve testing produced abnormal results, but Joy insisted that she was merely tired. Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) wanted to investigate further, while Joy's circumstances were already complicated by concerns about insurance coverage and finding a place where she and her baby, Kelsey, could receive the support they needed.
Joy's frustration grew as she struggled with her physical limitations and worried about what the tests might reveal. She also received muscle relaxants from her father and faced questions about how to manage her condition. Despite the uncertainty, Joy continued trying to maintain control over her situation, even when doing so meant taking risks that could make matters worse.
By Thursday, Joy was prepared to take a dangerous chance rather than wait for events to unfold around her. With Kayla investigating her abnormal test results and Joy unwilling to acknowledge the seriousness of her condition, the possibility of a much bigger medical crisis loomed over the storyline.
Chanel's Baby Shower Takes an Unexpected Turn
Friday brought a surprise baby shower for Chanel DiMera, organized by Paulina Price. What should have been a joyful celebration quickly became chaotic when Grandma Alice's donuts made their way around the gathering. Before long, the guests were laughing uncontrollably, and Chanel realized that something was wrong with the treats. She discovered that the donuts contained marijuana, turning the shower into an unexpectedly wild afternoon.
Despite the bizarre incident, the gathering also offered moments of family connection. Paulina discussed her efforts to pursue a pardon for Lani, while Abe shared an update that suggested the situation might be changing. Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) was encouraged to attend the shower, hoping the company of friends and family would help lift her spirits during a difficult time.
However, the celebration could not distract everyone from the secrets threatening to erupt across Salem. Chanel called Johnny to find out where he was, and his response left her stunned. Johnny had been meeting with Rafe to reveal the truth about DiMera Pharmaceuticals, and the consequences of that decision were only beginning to emerge.
As the festivities continued, another unexpected development threatened to expose a secret that could shake the DiMera family. Sydney made a mistake that added to the growing tension, while EJ confided in Rita about his doubts concerning whom he could trust. His uncertainty was especially significant given that Johnny had already chosen to reveal information that could damage his father's position.
The Week Ends with Secrets on the Verge of Exploding
By the end of the week, Salem's biggest storylines were converging toward potentially devastating confrontations. Marlena had finally demanded answers from Rita about Dominic's parentage, only for EJ to overhear the question that could connect his family to a mystery reaching back decades. Johnny had confessed to Rafe, placing himself on a collision course with the father he had spent so long protecting. And Sarah, already devastated by the public accusations against her, continued relying on Xander as he worked to expose EJ.
Meanwhile, Philip's efforts to save Titan offered the Kiriakis family a financial victory, but Kate remained concerned about her son's gambling history. Holly and Mason were beginning to understand one another's pain, while Lani faced an uncertain decision about her future and Joy's medical condition remained unresolved.
With so many secrets threatening to come out, the question was no longer whether Salem's families would face the consequences of their choices, but who would be caught in the fallout first. Would Marlena finally discover the truth about
Dominic before EJ could interfere? Would Johnny's confession bring his father's schemes to light, or destroy his own family in the process? And could Xander protect Sarah before the accusations permanently damaged her career?
As the week came to a close, one thing was certain: the truth was getting harder to hide, and the next revelation could change everything.
My Thoughts on Days of Our Lives This Week!
I really enjoyed Days of Our Lives this week! There was a great mix of emotional moments, messy relationship drama, laugh-out-loud comedy, and some very satisfying moments of EJ getting a taste of his own medicine!
Marlena (Deidre Hall) having to come to terms with the fact that she is still dealing with Stefano's (Joseph Mascolo) games, even years after his death, felt very real. That is the thing about trauma and manipulation: just because the person who caused it is gone does not mean the consequences disappear. Marlena has spent so many years trying to reclaim her life, only to discover that Stefano may have left behind yet another devastating secret. I really liked her confronting Rita (Maggie Carney) and demanding answers. But now I have even more questions! Did Rita actually carry Dominic, or is she his biological mother? Could there be another twist waiting for us? I am definitely curious to see where this storyline goes!
I am also really enjoying Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) being a schemer! I must admit that part of me enjoys watching her stir things up because I am not entirely on board with Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and Stephanie (Abigail Klein) as a couple right now.
However, that does not mean I want Alex with Joy, either! I just appreciate a little chaos when it comes to their relationship. I also liked Stephanie and Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) agreeing that nearly kissing was a mistake. Of course, we all know that admitting something was a mistake does not mean it is going to stay in the past! If anything, I think this is setting the stage for things to get very messy, and I am here for the drama!
Now, let's talk about Chanel's (Raven Bowens) baby shower because I was laughing! Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) being high is always a good time, and this was no exception. The entire situation was hilarious, and I especially loved the reference to when JJ (Casey Moss) made that funny mistake years ago. Those little callbacks to Salem's history are one of the things I love about this show. It is even better when they are woven into a scene that is already delivering plenty of comedy. Julie accidentally getting caught up in madness was just the kind of ridiculous fun that Days does so well!
Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) and Xander (Paul Telfer) besting EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was FUN! I loved seeing them get one over on him, especially when EJ seems to believe he can manipulate everyone and everything to get whatever he wants. Watching Philip and Xander work together to save Titan and leave EJ scrambling was incredibly satisfying. EJ is such a dirty player, and what he is putting poor Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) through is infuriating. She is already dealing with the stress of the lawsuit and the possibility of losing her reputation as a doctor, and EJ's involvement only makes everything worse.
That said, I must be honest: I do wonder what Sarah thought would happen when she made EJ angry! Did she really believe he was going to let everything go and move on? This is EJ DiMera we are talking about! He has never been someone who takes being crossed lightly. That does not make what he is doing to Sarah right, but I do think she may have underestimated just how far he would go to get even. Unfortunately, she is the one paying the price for it.
And can we PLEASE talk about the editing during Melinda Trask's (Tina Huang) public attack on Sarah? Watching several Salem residents react as Trask trashed Sarah, only for the conversation to bring up TOM HORTON (Macdonald Carey), was such a great moment! WHEW! That was so good! The way the show connected the current drama to Salem's history gave the scene so much more weight. Tom Horton is such an important part of the show's legacy, and bringing his name into the discussion made the whole sequence hit differently. I loved how the editing allowed the reactions around Salem to build the tension and remind us that Sarah's reputation affects more than just her immediate circle.
Overall, this was an enjoyable week of Days of Our Lives. Marlena's emotional journey kept me invested, Joy is making the romantic drama more interesting, Stephanie and Theo are setting themselves up for trouble, and Julie's baby shower antics provided some much-needed laughs. Meanwhile, Philip and Xander scoring a victory against EJ was the kind of payoff I love to see.
Of course, EJ is not going to take this defeat quietly, and with Johnny (Carson Boatman) finally telling Rafe (Galen Gering) the truth about DiMera Pharmaceuticals, the DiMera family has even more trouble brewing. Salem is getting messier by the minute, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Slowly trying to get back into Days, enjoyed the thorough recap!
