‘Crystal Lake’ Official Trailer Unleashes Linda Cardellini’s Pamela Voorhees

Camp Crystal Lake is officially open for business, and something tells us this summer isn’t going to end well.

Peacock has released the full official trailer for Crystal Lake, its upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series from A24, giving us our best look yet at Linda Cardellini as Pamela “Pam” Voorhees. After July’s teaser introduced the infamous camp and the tragedy surrounding young Jason Voorhees, the new trailer goes much deeper into the woman at the center of this story and how grief begins pushing her toward the killer horror fans already know.

Crystal Lake takes place nearly a year after young Jason tragically drowned in the lake. Pam has been unable to move beyond the loss of her son, but things become even more complicated when two strangers arrive at her door and begin asking questions about her past. That investigation appears to be only the beginning.

The trailer shows Cardellini taking Pam from a grieving mother desperately holding onto Jason to a woman becoming increasingly dangerous. Bodies begin piling up around Crystal Lake, questions are raised about what really happened to Jason, and it becomes pretty clear that this series isn't planning to sanitize the bloody history of Friday the 13th.

And while Jason's eventual place as one of horror's most recognizable killers looms over the entire story, Crystal Lake is starting somewhere different. This is Pam's story.

Cardellini takes over a character who has been an essential part of the franchise since the original 1980 Friday the 13th. Before Jason became the hockey mask-wearing face of the movies, Pamela Voorhees was the original film's killer, targeting the counselors she blamed for her son's death.

The series comes from creator, writer and showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, whose credits include It: Welcome to Derry. A24 produces the series, which expands the mythology surrounding the Voorhees family while digging into what happened before the events fans know from the movies.

Callum Vinson plays young Jason Voorhees, with William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom also starring.

Peacock is going all in on the premiere, too. All eight hour-long episodes of Crystal Lake will arrive at once on Thursday, October 15, meaning horror fans won't have to wait week to week to find out exactly how Pam Voorhees becomes the woman we've known for more than four decades.

Based on this trailer, Camp Crystal Lake may have found a pretty bloody way to reopen its doors.
