This is a standalone dark mafia rom-com about a fed-up heroine and a morally grey cinnamon roll hero with a kill container and a love language of cooking. Deception, secret identities, and a voluntold marriage of convenience weave together in picturesque scenes and a pleasure club for an unexpected happily-ever-after. There's some unaliving, but we make it funny (and put dogs in bulletproof vests). 

Thoughts: I love this book so much! I’ve read over 100 books so far this year and this is definitely Top 10!Tanvier Peart makes me laugh like no other. I spent much of the book cackling like a loca and swooning over Salvatore. The elder millennial in me thoroughly enjoyed the pop culture references, (R.I.P James Van Der Beek). 

Salvatore is my big Italian dreamboat. My love language is eating, so a man whose love language is cooking is right up my alley. He’s got power, money and speaks Italian, what’s not to amore? 

Bianca is one of the most relatable characters I’ve encountered. I too am 40, work in corporate (and hate it) and just want to enjoy some baked goods in Italy. Her friendship with her bestie reminds me of the chaos in my own bestie friendship. 

I loved everything about this book except that it ended. This is a perfect summer standalone for anyone looking to laugh and love.

ENJOYED= 4-3 Stars.  It wasn’t a life changer but I would recommend.
