Book Review: The Goat by Amy Award

Title: The Goat in the Bedroom

Author: Amy Award

Genre:  Romance

Rating: Enjoyed

Spice: Flamin Hot Cheeto

Trope(s): Football romance, Friends to Lovers, Roommates

Synopsis: Gryff has been friends with Artemis since high school, when they bonded over crushing on the same guy. Six years later, they’re roommates in their shiny new post college lives—she's training for the Olympics while he starts his pro football career.  Both recently reeling from bad break-ups. Artemis  says if she’s going to get back out there, she needs dating lessons. Naturally, she asks Gryff—her completely platonic roommate—to teach her.

They practice eye contact. Hand holding. Cuddling during movies. Because that's what best friends do, right? Practice intimacy? For science?

She thinks he’s being helpful. He’s losing his mind.

Meanwhile, Gryff is out here sabotaging her dates, getting jealous of teammates, and having heart-to-hearts with their pet goats about his feelings while she's literally in the next room.

But they’re definitely just friends.

Thoughts: This story, like the rest of the series, was full of fun, family and freaky freaky. Hajahaja. Gryff has always been an intriguing member of the Kingman clan for me, and I was so happy to see him more in the previous installment of the series, The Jack*ss in Class.

Watching Gryff and Artie pine for one another throughout the book was beyond amusing but also frustrating ‘cause even Stevie Wonder coulda figured it out quicker.

The Kingman family are such a beautiful group and I always love watching them plot and support one another. Chris is definitely the older brother everyone wishes they had, ‘cause that’s one hell of a graduation/signing gift.

The animals as always steal the show in the story with their adorableness and plotting ways. People who love animals the way the Kingman’s do are always attractive but when you make them athletic and queer, you’ve got a recipe for ULTRA HOT status and that is what you get from Aretmis and Gryff.

Whether a long time fan of the series or someone coming into it in the middle, you’re sure to enjoy it.
