‘Beyond the Gates’ Casts Khiry Walker and Denzell Dandridge as Shanice’s Brothers

The Johnson family is officially getting bigger on Beyond the Gates, and Shanice is about to have some familiar faces around Fairmont Crest.

Khiry Walker and Denzell Dandridge have joined the CBS daytime drama as Cedric Johnson and Lamont Johnson, the brothers of Shanice Johnson. The casting became apparent after the actors’ names appeared in the show’s closing credits, giving viewers confirmation that two members of Shanice’s family are headed into the story. Both Walker and Dandridge will also be making their daytime television debuts with the roles.

And listen, bringing in one brother would have gotten our attention. Bringing in both of Shanice’s brothers at the same time? Now we have questions.

Meet Cedric and Lamont Johnson

Walker will take on the role of Cedric Johnson. The actor and theater director has worked across stage, television and film, with credits including Law & Order: Organized Crime and The Chair Company. His theater background also includes work with The Public Theater.

Dandridge will portray Lamont Johnson. The Detroit native has built his career through film and television projects including Street Code Broken, Coming of Age, itfactor and The Dirty D. Dandridge is also the great-nephew of legendary actress Dorothy Dandridge and changed his surname from Manning to Dandridge as a tribute to his family legacy.

Now the big question is exactly what Cedric and Lamont are bringing with them when they enter Shanice’s world.

The Johnson Family Is Growing

Beyond the Gates has continued to expand its world beyond the Dupree family, introducing and developing characters throughout Fairmont Crest as the CBS soap grows its ensemble. Shanice’s brothers give the series another opportunity to dig deeper into a character viewers already know while opening the door to an entirely new family dynamic.

Of course, this is daytime television, so we're not automatically assuming these men are arriving simply to hug their sister, have dinner and mind their business. Friend, what soap family has ever operated like that?

For now, details surrounding Cedric and Lamont’s storylines are being kept under wraps, so there’s no telling whether the brothers will bring support, romance, family drama or a few secrets of their own. What we do know is that adding two Johnsons at once feels like more than a quick visit, and we're definitely interested in seeing how they fit into the increasingly crowded world of Fairmont Crest.
