Apparently, one new Avatar series just isn't enough, and we're certainly not complaining. Avatar: Seven Havens made its Paramount+ debut on Friday, October 9, but the celebration didn't stop with the premiere. During New York Comic Con, the franchise's original creators delivered some major news: the animated series has already been renewed for two additional seasons, officially known as Books 3 and 4.

And because the Avatar universe apparently has no intention of slowing down, Paramount+ also announced an entirely new animated series, Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos. Between a brand-new Avatar navigating a world that doesn't want her and another familiar Avatar getting his own adventure, fans suddenly have plenty to look forward to.

Avatar: Seven Havens Is Getting Two More Books

Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creative minds behind Avatar: The Last Airbender, shared the renewal news during the show's New York Comic Con panel. The announcement confirms that Pavi's journey will continue beyond the previously announced second Book, bringing the series to at least four Books.

That's a pretty impressive vote of confidence for a show that only just arrived on Paramount+. Avatar: Seven Havens takes the franchise into unfamiliar territory, introducing a world still struggling with the consequences of a devastating catastrophe. Pavi, a young Earthbender, discovers that she's the next Avatar following Korra, but there's one rather significant problem. Instead of being welcomed as the person destined to restore balance, she's viewed as a potential threat to humanity.

Together with her long-lost twin sister Nisha, Pavi must navigate a world where the Avatar's reputation isn't exactly winning any popularity contests. The series explores what happens when the very figure meant to protect the world becomes someone people fear, giving the franchise an intriguing new direction while holding on to the themes that made the original so memorable. The newly confirmed Books 3 and 4 will continue Pavi and Nisha's story, although Paramount+ hasn't revealed additional plot details or premiere dates for the upcoming installments.

Meet Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos

While Seven Havens takes viewers further into the Avatar timeline, another upcoming series will revisit its past.

Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos is officially heading to Paramount+, placing the spotlight on an Avatar who existed generations before Aang and whose story has long been part of the franchise's mythology.

This time, viewers will meet a teenage Kuruk who isn't particularly interested in following the traditional Avatar playbook. Rather than sticking to conventional training, he decides to master the four elements through his own adventures around the world. Unfortunately for his teacher, that means dealing with a rebellious student whose travels involve pirates, troublesome spirits, and plenty of chaos.

Honestly, an Avatar who decides to make up his own rules sounds like a recipe for disaster, and we mean that in the best possible way. Bryan Konietzko will serve as showrunner for the series, which is being produced by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Fans attending the New York Comic Con panel were also treated to their first look at Kuruk and his animal companion, Nikik. A premiere date and additional casting information have not yet been announced.

The Avatar Universe Is Only Getting Bigger

The announcements came during a packed Avatar: Seven Havens panel featuring DiMartino and Konietzko alongside executive producer Ethan Spaulding and co-executive producer Sehaj Sethi.

Voice actors Saheli Khan, Aishu Devan, and Major Curda, who portray Pavi, Nisha, and Jae, respectively, also joined the celebration. Janet Varney, who originally voiced Korra in The Legend of Korra, moderated the discussion, which included a special behind-the-scenes look at how the new animated series came together.

Fans also received updates about Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, including new Seven Havens-inspired character colorways and a stage based on Sonam's temple. Meanwhile, the official companion podcast, Avatar: Braving the Elements, will continue releasing episodes alongside the series, with Varney and original Zuko voice actor Dante Basco returning as hosts.

It's becoming increasingly clear that Avatar Studios isn't interested in simply revisiting the franchise's greatest hits. Between exploring what comes after Korra and digging deeper into the lives of previous Avatars, the creative team is building a universe with stories that can move in practically any direction. And considering how much history and mythology this world already contains, there's certainly no shortage of possibilities.

When Do New Avatar: Seven Havens Episodes Arrive?

The first three episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens are now streaming on Paramount+, with the remaining episodes of Book 1 arriving throughout October.

Episodes 4 through 6 will premiere Friday, October 16, followed by episodes 7 through 9 on October 23. The final four episodes of the 13-episode first Book will arrive October 30.

Additional information about Books 2, 3, and 4 will be announced later. For longtime Avatar fans, the news offers something especially exciting: the opportunity to watch a completely new generation of characters develop without wondering whether their story will be cut short after its first outing.

And with Kuruk preparing to cause a little chaos of his own, the Avatar universe has plenty more bending ahead.
