Apple TV is betting big on stylish crime drama this summer. The streamer has announced a July 15, 2026 premiere date for Lucky, a new limited series led by Anya Taylor-Joy, who also serves as an executive producer.
Unveiled during Apple TV’s 2026 Press Day, Lucky will debut globally with its first two episodes, followed by weekly installments every Wednesday through August 19. Along with the premiere date, Apple released a first look and teaser for the seven-episode drama and it’s already shaping up to be a sleek, high-stakes ride.
Based on Marissa Stapley’s New York Times bestselling novel (and Reese’s Book Club pick), Lucky centers on a sharp-witted con artist whose carefully constructed world collapses after a multi-million-dollar heist goes disastrously wrong. Forced into hiding, Lucky finds herself hunted by both the FBI and a dangerous crime boss, leaving her to rely on her instincts to survive and possibly escape for good.
Taylor-Joy leads a stacked ensemble that includes Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner. The series comes from This Is Us creator Jonathan Tropper, who co-showruns with Cassie Pappas. Tropper also writes and executive produces through his Tropper Ink banner as part of his overall deal with Apple TV.
Lucky is produced by Apple Studios in collaboration with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, with Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive producing. Taylor-Joy executive produces via her LadyKiller production company, while Jonathan van Tulleken directs the pilot and joins the executive production team.
Hello Sunshine continues its strong relationship with Apple TV following hits like The Morning Show, Truth Be Told, Surface, and The Last Thing He Told Me. With a buzzy source novel, prestige pedigree, and Taylor-Joy front and center, Lucky is shaping up to be one of Apple TV’s most anticipated releases of 2026.
