Alley Mills Is Returning to ‘General Hospital’ as Heather Webber

Alley Mills is officially returning to General Hospital as Heather Webber, nearly two years after the character left Port Charles. Mills will make her first appearance back on the ABC soap on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

TV Insider first reported the casting news on Wednesday, September 23, with General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini confirming Mills’ return. “We’re thrilled to have Alley Mills back as Heather,” Valentini told the outlet, adding that there is “never a dull moment” when Heather is around and teasing that she is ready to cause more trouble. And really, would we expect anything less from Heather Webber?

Heather Webber’s Last ‘General Hospital’ Appearance

Mills was last seen as Heather on October 28, 2024. Her exit came after one of the more surprising turns in Heather's very long and very messy history. Doctors discovered that Heather had been suffering from cobalt poisoning caused by a faulty hip replacement. Because the poisoning could cause neurological and psychological symptoms, questions were raised about how much it had contributed to Heather's violent behavior, including the crimes she committed as The Hook.

Heather's conviction was eventually overturned, leading to her release from Pentonville. Her son Steven Webber, played by Scott Reeves, returned to Port Charles and ultimately agreed to leave town with his mother.

Now Heather is headed back. Exactly why she is returning remains under wraps, and there is no word yet on how long Mills will stick around. But considering Heather's track record, a quiet visit to catch up with old friends doesn't exactly sound like her style.

Alley Mills Has Made Heather Webber Her Own

Mills took over the role of Heather in October 2022, becoming the fourth actress to portray the longtime GH character. Georganne LaPiere originated the role in 1976, followed by Mary O'Brien, while Robin Mattson became most closely associated with Heather during multiple runs beginning in 1980.

Mills quickly made an impression of her own. The actress earned Daytime Emmy Awards for her work as Heather in 2023 and 2025. Before joining General Hospital, Mills was already well known to daytime fans for playing Pam Douglas on The Bold and the Beautiful, while primetime viewers remember her as Norma Arnold on The Wonder Years.

Heather has decades of connections throughout Port Charles, including her children Steven Webber, the late Franco Baldwin and Esme Prince. Her most recent run also revealed Heather as The Hook and explored her complicated relationship with Esme before Esme was presumed dead following her confrontation with Spencer Cassadine in France.

With so many people in Port Charles connected to Heather and plenty of unfinished business still hanging around there are several directions General Hospital could take her return. One thing seems pretty safe to assume: Heather Webber isn't coming back just to sit quietly at Kelly's with a cup of coffee.

At this rate, General Hospital is bringing back everyone with a Port Charles zip code, except Spencer Cassadine, because apparently that’s where the line is.
