'Abbott Elementary' Season 4 Episode 20 "Ava Fest: Tokyo Drift" Recap

Abbott Elementary delivered another hysterical episode this week and included another Philly native special guest.
Now that the District has taken away all of Abbott Elementary’s shiny new things that the golf course gave them to keep quiet aka a bribe the quirky staff have to find a way to raise money. The laptops do not work and the gym roof is leaking causing water to get in and interrupt the day. The school is back to their old problems and the good life was nice while it lasted.
So in order to raise money for the school, Janine has the idea for a free car wash and to rely on the tips to raise the money. Barbara hilariously lets it be known that she does not buff anything except her nails. On top of the car wash, it is an open house for the parents who are going to want to address some things with Gregory now that he is interim principal.
Gregory being Gregory does not like confrontation and has a way to avoid it at all costs. His secretary clowning him the whole time was comedy gold. Gregory is bombarded with parents' complaints and concerns and a few compliments. He is confronted by Amber (who he is able to fend off with compliments) and Darnell. Darnell is upset Jabari's grade is spelling went from an A+ to an A (seriously) and blames Gregory. He is able to calm Darnell down by reminding him they both are on Team Jabari and everything will be fine.
Ava comes by the car wash which is not doing well in donations so she says check the list in her office for people that will donate a lot of money. Turns out they are drug dealers and Barbara does not want to keep the money so Ava decides to lift the cease and desist on the use of Ava Fest and brings it to the fundraiser. Everyone pitches in and Ava was able to get Philly native Jill Scott to perform.
Ava lets Janine know in a soft moment that she misses her job and the school. Even though her speaking engagements bring her money she is not fulfilled. Janine lets her know that they can come up with a plan to get Ava her job back. I like when Ava and Janine come together and there is not any shade. I love seeing them lift each other up.
The episode ends Mr. Johnson hilariously being the super fan of Jill Scott and shows her a shrine he made for her in the janitor’s closet.
