‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Season 2 Trailer Brings Plagues, Murder Hornets and More Chaos

Season 2 of 9-1-1: Nashville looked at ordinary emergencies and said, “Cute. Let’s try biblical plagues.”
The new trailer for the ABC drama sends the 113 straight into a string of increasingly bizarre disasters, beginning with murder hornets swarming a gala and quickly escalating into something much darker. Blood-filled basements, painful boils and other plague-inspired threats are all part of the chaos, giving the first responders a season opener that feels less like a bad shift and more like the Book of Exodus with sirens.
The trailer also introduces Ryan Phillippe as Rogue Kelly, a homicide detective who recently relocated from New York City to Nashville. Rogue starts noticing a pattern behind the strange emergencies and begins to suspect they are not random accidents at all. That puts him directly into the orbit of Don Hart and the 113 as they try to figure out who is turning Music City into their own personal punishment zone.
That mystery gives Season 2 a slightly different flavor from the show’s first year. The 113 still has plenty of fires, rescues and medical emergencies to deal with, but now there is a larger threat tying everything together. Someone appears to be deliberately recreating biblical plagues across Nashville, and Rogue may be the first person to realize there is an actual method behind the madness.
As if the citywide disaster was not enough, the Hart family is still carrying plenty of baggage from the Season 1 finale. Don and Blythe’s marriage remains strained, while the fallout from Blythe and Dixie’s fight continues to hang over everyone. The trailer makes it clear that those personal problems are not getting pushed aside just because Nashville suddenly has murder hornets to worry about.
The danger also gets much closer to home as the footage continues. Cammie receives an ominous call, Blythe is shown in a hospital bed and Don appears to be in serious trouble at one point. The 113 already had enough family drama to fill an entire season, and now they also have someone staging plagues across the city. Excellent timing, truly.
Chris O’Donnell returns as Don Hart alongside Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz, Hailey Kilgore and Hunter McVey. Phillippe joins the series as a new regular, giving Season 2 another major character to throw directly into the chaos.
If Season 1 was about introducing viewers to the Nashville side of the 9-1-1 universe, Season 2 looks ready to get much weirder. Murder hornets are somehow only the opening act, which tells us pretty much everything we need to know about what the 113 is walking into.
9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 premieres Thursday, October 15 on ABC and streams the following day on Hulu.
