He pushes through the moment and continues examining the victims: Ethan Attis, a research biologist, and his girlfriend, Krista Sanderton. However, the flashbacks intensify, and Will asks the CSI team to leave him alone so he can continue working. Outside, Ormewood and Franklin question Stanley, the lead plumber from Speedy Stan’s Drainage. Stanley explains that he and his crew were in the house all day repairing the kitchen and upstairs bathroom, claiming they never heard or saw anything suspicious until he needed Ethan’s signature. Neither detective can believe the crew missed a double murder happening under the same roof. Inside, Will studies the artwork on the walls, including a display of different types of worms, and continues dictating his findings. Krista’s purse has been emptied, with its contents scattered across the floor, suggesting a possible robbery gone wrong. The murder weapon, plastic tubing, lies beside Ethan’s body. Still, the details do not add up, and as Will mentally reconstructs the crime, every possible scenario seems wrong. Overwhelmed, he steps outside for air, where Faith shares what she learned from the neighbors. Both are still visibly struggling with Amanda’s death, and when Faith asks if he knows what happened, Will admits he honestly has no idea. Later, while in the morgue examining the victims, Will notices inconsistencies in the ligature marks. Suddenly, he is struck on the head and collapses unconscious. When he wakes, the GBI floor appears eerily empty except for a mysterious man in a hazmat suit, who claims there has been possible neurotoxin exposure from an improperly stored sample. He escorts Will out, but when the elevator doors open, Will finds himself on a bustling APD floor from years earlier. There, a young girl sitting at a desk introduces herself as Faith, and the surreal moment only deepens when Will suddenly finds himself in handcuffs, reliving the moment Sergeant Heller escorts him to Captain Amanda Wagner’s office. Last night’s episode of The Rookie was the best “I’m sorry we did that” to make up for the documentary episode - I’m convinced. I usually can’t stand the storyline whiplash, but this time around it flowed seamlessly. From a visit by a familiar face to a death we didn’t see coming, this episode was one of the best all season. The Glasser Case Continues Before we get into this case, I’d like to just ask one thing: why is Bailey always tagging along police investigations? John Nolan is hurt, we get that, but why does that mean she has to be with him when he meets with Nyla to try and find Miranda? I rolled my eyes so hard when I saw she was joining them. Does she not work? Back to Liam Glasser - I am so scared for whatever spree this man is about to go on. Since he’s been back, we’ve seen glimpses of him fighting the urge to kill. He’s trying his best to conceal his true intentions while trying to fight to gain custody of his children. After finding out who he really was, his ex-wife, Miranda, has custody of their children and Liam is only allowed supervised visitations. Before leaving the court room, Liam says to John, “BTK, Golden State, they both went dormant when they had young children to take care of…”. Why was no one around to hear that? He basically said “I don’t have kids to take care of anymore - time to start killing again”. He’s about to wreak havoc and I hope LAPD is ready. Aaron Thorsen is Back It’s always a good day when Aaron Thorsen shows up. Except, his visit this time is because he was robbed. They stole his car, wallet, and a very expensive watch ($800k for a watch, Aaron?). Here’s the thing about the watch - it wasn’t visible during the robbery, so how did they know to get it? While helping Tim select a ring to propose to Lucy (screams internally), Aaron connects him with his jeweler, Pierre, who helped him secure his watch. Pierre travels with a bodyguard for obvious reasons, but what wasn’t obvious to me at first was that his bodyguard would be the one who robbed Aaron. (Disney/Mike Taing) TRU VALENTINO, LISSETH CHAVEZ Tim Finds Lucy’s Ring This has been the moment we’ve been waiting for. It’s finally here - Tim plans on proposing to Lucy. Can we talk about the initial meeting with Aaron’s jeweler, Pierre? I love his style; he starts off this meeting by asking Tim to talk about Lucy. When he started to answer this, I couldn’t help but notice how he got flustered. Has he ever spoken about Lucy like this? We definitely know he loves Lucy, but to hear him talk about Lucy just as a person and how he becomes overwhelmed with happiness just to talk about her. I’ve always wanted to see this side of Tim. When Pierre asked him, “why Lucy is a unicorn” and I heard his response? My goodness, I melted. Tim said “she makes me feel loved in a way I never felt I deserved.” With the way he snapped out of it after answering him, you can tell it was in this moment it clicked for Tim. It was almost as if he said “did I really just say this out loud?” And, yes Tim, you did. (Disney/Mike Taing) TRU VALENTINO, LISSETH CHAVEZ, MEKIA COX, ALYSSA DIAZ The rings Pierre brought the first time around weren't the best fit, but after hearing about Lucy from Tim, he understood the assignment. He came back with the most beautiful rings that had beautiful backstories, stories that Lucy would love. When Tim selected a ring whose story was that of two people who were friends for years until they realized they were in love. There were struggles in the relationship that tested them, but they overcame that and have been together ever since. Sound familiar? When Pierre asked Tim if this ring said “forever” he didn’t hesitate when he said it was the one. This moment has been a long time coming. Monica’s Story Comes to an End I wanted this story to wrap up, but not like this. Monica was playing a dangerous game from the beginning. Every opportunity she got, she chose to be selfish and do what was best for her own gain. No one like this wins in life and up until her very last moment, Monica’s desperation was hard to miss. (Disney/Mike Taing) BRIDGET REGAN When Monica lost everything forcing her to work with the Feds, I knew that she was going to try to find a way out. This was always her M.O. which made her appearance tiring, but something changed in this episode. This entire time, I’ve never felt sorry for Monica, but when she went to see Wesley before fleeing LA, I couldn’t help but feel for her. I didn't see the former high power lawyer with an expensive bill rate; I saw someone who dug herself so deep into a hole that she knew she wouldn’t get out of it. And because of that the strong woman facade started to fade and we finally saw real fear. After saying goodbye to Wesley, Monica gets into a car that she thinks is taking her to LAX, but it turns out it was a set up and she met her demise. Overall this episode was great. While the crew was busy celebrating over foosball and beer, the show pulled the rug out from under us. The final shot of Victor Ochoa floating face-down in his own pool didn't just end the season; it blew up the premise for whatever comes next. Victor is dead, and while plenty of people wanted him gone, R.J. is the one with the clearest motive and the most recent grudge. It’s a brilliant, if frustrating, pivot that turns our hero from a man seeking justice into a man fleeing a murder charge. Will We Get an R.J. Decker Season 2?
