This week's episode of The Chi felt like the calm before the storm. There weren't any huge shocking deaths or massive twists, but almost every storyline took a step forward, and you can feel things starting to unravel for several characters. I am sorry for such a late review but better late than never! The biggest mess right now continues to be Bakari. He brings up wanting to leave Chicago, even his sister Britney returns this episode to try and convince him to go with her this time. Between losing Lanae this episode and his confrontation with nuk, I worry if he will make it out this season alive. I don't know what this man is thinking. Moving product through Smokey's orders is probably the dumbest decision he's made all season, and that's saying something. The moment Emmett finds out what's going on, it's going to be a problem. Every week Bakari keeps digging himself into a deeper hole, and now he's caught between Reg, Nuk, and his own bad decisions. Speaking of Reg, he somehow gets more unhinged every time he's on screen. His scenes with Rafi were interesting because Rafi is clearly jealous of Bakari's position, but he's also becoming more annoying by the episode. Every conversation feels like he's complaining about something. When Reg called him out for being a traitor too, I couldn't even argue with him. The friendship between Bakari and Papa also took another turn for the worse. Papa has been struggling for a while now, but hearing him say that weed was getting old before moving on to pills was tough to watch. This isn't the same Papa we've known for years, and it feels like he's heading down a dangerous path. Jake's reaction pretty much summed up how I felt. Nobody wants to see another funeral. On the relationship side of things, Emmett and Keisha are still trying to figure things out. Their meeting with Devonte's caseworker was actually one of the more grounded scenes in the episode. Keisha bringing up couples counseling shows that they're at least trying to work through their issues instead of ignoring them. That being said, I really hope the writers aren't setting us up for another round of proposal drama. We've been down this road before. One thing I did like was seeing Keisha and Riley spend more time together. Riley gave her some solid advice, and honestly, Keisha needs somebody in her corner right now. Between her mother leaving and Jada passing, she's missing those voices that used to help guide her. Then we get to Nuk. The walls are slowly starting to close in on him. More people are talking, more secrets are coming out, and Kenya claiming she has proof about her father definitely caught my attention. By the time that recording came out connecting Nuk to Rob's death, I knew things were only going to get messier from here. The episode's best moment was easily the fight between Bakari and Rafi. After listening to Rafi run his mouth for weeks, seeing Bakari finally put hands on him was satisfying. What wasn't satisfying was seeing how much Reg enjoyed it. Every episode reminds us that this dude is a complete psychopath, and this one was no different. Overall, I enjoyed "White Widow." It wasn't the flashiest episode of the season, but it kept me invested from beginning to end. More importantly, it feels like the show is finally moving its pieces into place for something bigger. Between Bakari's situation, Papa's downward spiral, and Nuk's secrets starting to come out, I don't think anybody's life is about to get easier. Rating: 8/10

His father is every bit the cruel tyrant Lestat has previously hinted at, while his older brothers eagerly follow their father's lead. The only bright spot in his life is his mother, Gabrielle, whose intelligence, independence and refusal to conform made her stand out in a family determined to crush anything remotely different. Those flashbacks reveal how deeply Gabrielle influenced Lestat. While their bond has always been presented as important, Episode 2 makes it clear that she became the center of his emotional universe long before either of them became vampires. The hour carefully shows how years of admiration evolved into an attachment that remains one of the strangest and most defining relationships in Lestat's life. One of the episode's most memorable sequences revisits the legendary wolf attack that earned Lestat the respect he never received from his family. The moment serves as a turning point, establishing both his fearlessness and his desperate need for validation. Even then, Lestat wasn't simply trying to prove himself to the villagers. He wanted Gabrielle to see him. That emotional thread continues into the present as Lestat reflects on the decision to turn his dying mother into a vampire. While he views the act as a gift, the episode suggests their dynamic has always been far more complicated than either of them wants to admit. Gabrielle remains one of the few people capable of influencing Lestat and her return immediately raises questions about her true motives. Meanwhile, life on the road isn't getting any easier. After the explosive revelations of the premiere, Lestat's band struggles to process the fact that their frontman is exactly what he claims to be. Some members are willing to adapt, while others understandably have concerns about working alongside a centuries-old predator who occasionally snacks on humans. The tension reaches a breaking point with Alex, whose growing discomfort creates one of the episode's most emotional conflicts. Not us feeling bad for Alex. Lestat's attempts to keep the band together reveal another side of his personality: manipulation. Whenever vulnerability threatens to surface, Lestat often defaults to control. It's a defense mechanism he's perfected over centuries, but it rarely leads to healthy outcomes. Of course, the biggest moment arrives with the long-awaited reunion between Louis and Lestat. The chemistry between these two remains electric, whether they're flirting, fighting, or pretending they don't still care about each other. Their conversations are layered with years of resentment, heartbreak and unresolved feelings. Every glance feels loaded with history. Every insult sounds suspiciously like a love letter. These two are exhausting. The series continues to excel whenever it focuses on the emotional complexity of their relationship. Neither character is entirely right. Neither is entirely wrong. They're simply two immortal beings carrying centuries of pain into every interaction. Elsewhere, Daniel Molloy finds himself pulled deeper into Talamasca business as the mysterious organization seeks Louis' help with a growing vampire problem. The Detroit coven emerges as a significant threat, but the real hook comes when Louis learns someone from Claudia's tragic past may be connected to the situation. Suddenly, this mission becomes personal. By the time the credits roll, The Vampire Lestat has successfully expanded its mythology while deepening its central relationships. Episode 2 balances family trauma, vampire politics, romance, and dark humor without losing sight of the character work that makes the series so compelling. "Toledo" may not feature the explosive spectacle of the premiere, but it offers something arguably more important: a deeper understanding of the vampire at the center of the story. The result is a thoughtful, emotionally charged hour that reminds viewers why Lestat remains one of television's most fascinating antiheroes. And if this episode proved anything, it's that no matter how many centuries pass, Lestat Lioncourt is still making decisions with his heart instead of his head. History suggests that's probably not going to end well.

As Power Book III: Raising Kanan prepares to close out its story, fans are getting ready to say goodbye to one of the franchise's most beloved characters: Marvin Thomas. Over the course of four seasons, Marvin has evolved from the family's unpredictable enforcer into one of the show's most layered and emotionally complex characters. Now, heading into the final season, actor London Brown says Marvin's priorities have become clearer than ever. Speaking with The TV Cave ahead of the Season 5 premiere, Brown reflected on Marvin's loyalty, his grief, and why audiences have connected so deeply with the character's growth. "I'm excited for the audience to see the work that we've been putting in," Brown said of the show's final chapter. "I've been asking for it. So I'm like, cool, finally it's here." One of the biggest questions entering the season is where Marvin's loyalty ultimately lies. Throughout the series, he's been fiercely protective of his sister Raquel and his nephew Kanan, but Brown believes Marvin's focus has shifted. "I probably would put it with his daughter first," Brown explained. "He's lost control over his nephew. His nephew's not listening anymore. So because of that, Marvin's like, all right, let me try to at least cover my daughter while I can." That protective instinct has always defined Marvin, but it becomes even more significant as he continues to process the devastating losses that have reshaped the Thomas family. Brown also spoke about Marvin's relationship with his younger brother Lulu, played by Malcolm Mays. According to the actor, Marvin's role as the oldest sibling has always fueled his desire to protect those around him. "There's always this need to protect, look after, and cover," Brown said. "Once Marvin realizes that he was unable to do that, that sets him off. As the season unfolds, Marvin finds himself emotionally overwhelmed, trying to balance his responsibility to his daughter while also coping with the fractured state of his family. "There's a part of Marvin that feels like he's drowning emotionally," Brown shared. The emotional side of Marvin is one reason Brown believes fans have embraced the character over the years. While viewers appreciate Marvin's willingness to handle business when necessary, they also connect with his vulnerability as a father. "Dealing with his daughter shows the vulnerability that the audience can connect to," Brown said. "That's outside of guns. It's just him being the dad and trying to figure it out." Of course, Brown acknowledged that Marvin's appeal goes beyond his family relationships. "The streets really arrive with Marvin with that," he said, referring to the character's reputation as someone who gets things done when situations become dangerous. When asked whether Marvin is misunderstood, Brown argued that viewers may have initially judged the character too harshly during the show's early seasons. "I think people think he's a little more irresponsible than what I think he actually is," Brown explained. "His intentions are good. He's not trying to mess up things." According to Brown, fans have gradually come to realize that Marvin is often the most dependable person in the room when the pressure is at its highest. "If you had to go handle some business, I feel like most of the audience is like, 'I'm calling Marvin,'" Brown joked. That's probably one of the biggest compliments a Power character can receive. As Raising Kanan enters its final season, Marvin's evolution remains one of the series' greatest success stories. He's still capable of delivering intimidation when necessary, but his emotional growth, dedication to family, and willingness to confront his flaws have transformed him into a fan favorite. This week on Beyond The Gates, the Impaler is revealed, and boy, is it a letdown. The crossover begins, and a tornado strikes. Let’s discuss. The Impaler Reveal The Impaler is… Can you guess? I bet you got it in one. It is Joey’s sister, Heather, like we didn’t see that coming. What a boring reveal to an even more boring story. Someone on social media said that it should have been Kial, and honestly, that would have been more interesting. He could have convinced Nicole to take the COS position, then used her and the COS position to do his bidding. He could have blackmailed her into it. That would have spared Nicole from the fallout, but no, this show is allergic to messy drama. No one cares about Heather, who is new to the canvas. Personally, I wanted it to be Nicole on a mental break. Maybe even Carlton, because he just seems so squeaky clean. I would have even taken Monica since she is connected to Shanice. Ted is too stupid to pull it off, so he was never in the running. This was lackluster. Joey cannot believe it is Heather because, you know, women cannot be crime bosses. Eventually, he accepts it and is willing to keep her secret. What irks me is that while Jacob got the commendation, the writers gave Heather credit for the Impaler pulling out of the DMV. She did it because Joey asked. Actually, he demanded. Jon is great, but I don’t buy him as a mob boss. He is better as a calculating villain. The Fundraiser Meets Kansas Victor Newman arrives in Fairmount Crest. He catches up with Vernon, and Vernon gives him credit for part of his career trajectory. Excuse me while I go roll my eyes.I’m back. I will accept it only because it is Eric Braeden. The fundraiser happens at the club, and it actually works. The Abbotts arrive, Leslie finagles a ticket, Devon and Dani have chemistry, and overall, I did enjoy the crossover event. However, the Y&R characters didn’t add much to it, so I had difficulty connecting with their purpose. You had Leslie running down Diane’s history, Chelsea admiring Abby, and it was basically like a meet-and-greet. The new kid on the block meeting soap royalty. A very strange use of a crossover. During Martin’s speech, a tornado hits, and everything erupts into chaos. Triage and The Ballroom Leslie patches up Anita and sits with her and Vernon. Ashley, Naomi, Shanice, and Shonda try to keep a running count of who is present and who is missing while helping the medical staff triage the injured. Tomas looks constipated while everyone around him snaps into action. Andre gets injured, and he is worried about Dani. Poor thing. Kyle and Hayley are trapped in a room after flirting most of the evening. She takes off her ring as if he didn’t see it when they met. They kiss, and eventually, she tells him the truth: she is married. But if you watch him on Y&R, you already know Kyle does not care. LOL. Meanwhile, Izaiah is frantic and looking for Eva. When Leslie sees him, she wants to know where Eva is because she thought Eva was with him. She has a bad feeling. The Sisters Under The Stairs Eva pulls Kat into some closet under one of the stairwells. They bicker back and forth until a hot pipe bursts and falls. Kat pushes Eva out of the way and goes on a tirade. Eva tells her that something is wrong, that she doesn’t feel well. Kat ignores her several times before Eva starts coughing up blood. Kat sees that Eva wasn’t lying or exaggerating, and Colby acts in these scenes. They are heartbreaking. Kat tells Eva to “wake up. Argue with me and call me names.” It was about the sweetest we have ever seen, and likely will ever see, Kat with her. Kat calls for help, and after a while, Jacob and Izaiah arrive. They go get more help because they are having trouble moving the debris and getting to them. Filth Flarn Filth Dani and Bill get stuck in the elevator, and while I saw the preview and knew what would happen, my Dani-loving heart was in denial. This isn’t just about her hurting Andre, which I believe is for the bland nurse’s benefit. Andre will be cold, and the nurse will teach him how to love again. Insert vomit emoji. Anyway, at first, I had hope. Dani seemed to stand her ground while her ex was just a horn dog in an elevator. Then, for some reason I fail to understand, they kiss. Then things escalate, and she lets him degrade her on the elevator floor. Because that is what it was. Degradation. Just last week, we saw how she caught him with Hayley in their bed. We saw the cold way he said he was leaving her for Hayley. We saw the way he disrespected her in front of their daughter, who bore witness to all of it. We saw Dani break down, and we saw the loving man, her husband, by the way, comfort her. Andre has done nothing but shower her with love, patience, and understanding, but she let that man degrade her on an elevator floor. What does this do for Dani, writers? Did Tyler Perry slip into the writers’ room? Did they not get the message that we are tired of seeing Black women mistreated and abused? Y’all really chose to have this Black woman choose her emotional and mental abuser? Disgust doesn’t even cover it. You should all be ashamed. The Aftermath The roads open, and help is on the way. Izaiah is frantic. Leslie is frantic. Eva, unconscious, is on the way to the hospital. Kat reunites with her parents, but the comfort comes from Jacob, who tells her that no one will blame her for what happened to Eva. Kat replies, “You know that’s not true.” That was heartbreaking because while I think Kat can go too far when it comes to Eva, she is right. Her family is always expecting the most from her while Eva receives understanding and comfort because her father is trash. Martin collapses after refusing to go to the hospital. He assumes he only has a concussion, even though he was out cold from a tree falling on him, but Martin has never been smart. Dani and Bill take different routes out of the elevator. She feels guilty when she sees an injured Andre. Then she hugs all on him with Bill and sex musk all over her. For shame. Weekly Wrap Although I felt that the Y&R characters added nothing and the Impaler reveal was weak sauce, I loved the big event. It took me back to the big events we rarely see on soaps anymore. I hope there are more of them. I almost forgot: Nicole needs to dead her friendship with Vanessa ASAP. She brought Joey to the fundraiser and refused to leave. She did not care what it could cost Martin. I legit loathe that woman now. She has become Hayley-level airheaded and only thinks of Joey. I don’t get it, writers. Why are you all so male-centered?
