Christopher Nolan has done it again. The Odyssey is easily one of the best movies I've seen this year. Taking one of the oldest stories ever told isn't an easy task, especially when so many people already know the major moments, but Nolan somehow makes it feel fresh while still staying true to what made the story so iconic in the first place. When I say he put his own twist on it, I'm mainly talking about the casting choices. On paper, some of these actors probably weren't who people expected, and after seeing the movie, though, I don't understand the backlash this cast has been getting. Every concern people have will disappear within the first few minutes. This cast is stacked and incredibly diverse from top to bottom. Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson... everybody brings their A-game. Nobody feels out of place, and everyone gets a chance to shine. Even the supporting cast leaves an impression. Lupita Nyong’o and Zendaya's roles surprised me, I found myself wanting more from them. Visually, this movie is beautiful. Seeing The Odyssey in 70MM IMAX is absolutely the way to experience it if you can. Every location feels massive, from the open sea to the battlefields and everything in between. Nolan has always known how to make a movie feel big, but this might be one of his most epic-looking films yet. There were several moments where I just sat there taking it all in because the scale of everything was incredible. The movie runs just under three hours, but honestly, I never felt the runtime. That's usually the first thing people ask about a Christopher Nolan movie, but the story keeps moving. Every stop on Odysseus' journey feels important, and I never found myself checking the time. Even though we've all heard stories about the Trojan Horse, the Lotus flowers and their mysterious effects, and Circe turning people into animals, Nolan makes those moments feel exciting all over again. He doesn't try to reinvent the mythology. Instead, he makes you feel like you're experiencing these stories for the first time. Matt Damon does a fantastic job carrying the film. He brings the right amount of confidence, leadership, and vulnerability to Odysseus, and you believe every step of his journey. It's one of my favorite performances from him in a long time. Tom Holland also deserves a lot of credit. His storyline ended up being one of the emotional anchors of the movie, and his chemistry with the rest of the cast helped keep me invested from beginning to end. As for the villain, Robert Pattinson absolutely stole every scene he was in as Antinous. You're supposed to hate this guy, and trust me, you will. Every time he showed up on screen, I wanted somebody to knock him down a few pegs. The tension between him and Tom Holland's character became one of my favorite parts of the entire movie. One thing people should know going in is that the movie isn't told in a straight line. Nolan jumps around in the timeline, especially early on, and I actually liked that. It makes the world feel lived in instead of just telling the story from point A to point B. We meet characters at different stages of their lives, and somehow it never becomes confusing or slows the movie down. The action is another huge highlight. The battle scenes are brutal, and you really feel how ruthless the Greeks were. Nolan puts you right in the middle of the fighting, and there were several moments where I caught myself gripping my seat. The practical effects mixed with the IMAX presentation make everything hit even harder. A couple of pleasant surprises for me were Elliot Page, James Remar, and Corey Hawkins. Elliot Page only has a handful of scenes, but he makes the most of every one of them. James Remar and Corey Hawkins somehow slipped under my radar before the movie came out, so seeing them pop up was a nice surprise. At the end of the day, The Odyssey is everything I wanted it to be. It's epic, emotional, visually stunning, and packed with great performances. Christopher Nolan took a story that's been told for thousands of years and somehow made it feel new again without losing what made it special. If you're a fan of Nolan's work or just love big, epic movies, this is one you need to see on the biggest screen possible. The Odyssey hits theaters on Friday, July 17, and I highly recommend checking it out. Go in with an open mind, experience it for yourself, and then decide where it ranks among Christopher Nolan's best films. I have a feeling this one is going to be in that conversation for a long time.

Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham are your next favorite action stars. Starring in Ride or Die, an action-comedy series, the pair play best friends Judith and Debbie, who seemingly know everything about each other. Well...almost everything. Judith is actually an international assassin known as Whiptail and has been living a double life all along. While Debbie is struggling to process her husband's request for a divorce and Judith is being forced out of the assassin business, both women find themselves in desperate need of a fresh start. When a mysterious enemy forces them onto an international mission, their friendship is put to the ultimate test as they navigate just how much lying, deceit, and murder they can survive together. Right off the bat, Spencer and Waddingham have undeniable chemistry. You'd think they were best friends in real life. Knowing that Judith and Debbie's friendship began in such an unconventional way—and was never meant to become anything more than one stranger helping another—made watching their bond grow even more rewarding. While Debbie may not have known Judith's biggest secret, it was obvious that Judith was her truest self when she was with Debbie, giving her all the love she knew how to give. Their banter was one of the highlights of the series. Whether they were caught in a shootout, jumping off a moving train, or negotiating a drug deal in a Spanish nightclub, the two balanced high-stakes action with comedy effortlessly. At times, it genuinely felt like I was watching two sisters bicker. My favorite part of the series, however, was how it honored classic spy films while still carving out its own identity. Each episode featured nods to iconic stories like Murder on the Orient Express, The Spanish Prisoner, and The Count of Monte Cristo. As someone who loves spotting references, it was so much fun to pick out these inspirations while watching how the show reinvented them for its own story. The sense of familiarity extended beyond the plot. Even the supporting characters felt like fresh takes on classic spy archetypes. Outside of Judith and Debbie, Queenie and Sam were standouts. They had fantastic chemistry and made for an excellent second duo, complementing the leads perfectly. I especially loved the concept of a younger generation of spies working from within to fix a corrupt system. The biggest standout, though, was Debbie's transformation from an everyday civilian into a spy-in-training. Hannah Waddingham brought so much heart to Debbie's journey, but it was Octavia Spencer who truly surprised me. She stepped into the role of an elite assassin so naturally that you'd think she'd been leading action franchises for years. Spencer has always had incredible range, and Ride or Die is yet another reminder of just how versatile she is. If you're looking for a series that will keep you on your toes, Ride or Die should absolutely be on your watchlist. My biggest piece of advice? Don't get too attached to any of the characters, you never know who's making it to the next scene. With a killer cliffhanger and an outstanding cast, I'm already hoping for a Season 2.

All American is back for its eighth and final season, and honestly, the fact that this show survived The CW's bloodbath is pretty impressive. Over the years, the series has had its ups and downs when it comes to storytelling, but it's always had a loyal fanbase. The new owners clearly saw something worth keeping, and after watching these first two episodes, I think we're in for a pretty good final ride. We pick up six months after the Season 7 finale. Jordan gets a disturbing phone call before Cassius follows him at KJ's request, and then the story flashes back six months to show us how everyone got to this point. I actually liked the way they handled it because it gives you a mystery right away instead of just picking up where we left off. One of the biggest surprises for me has been Jordan and Cassius. If you forgot, they're cousins, and watching them actually build that family relationship has been fun. The constant jokes about football, basketball, and even married life make their scenes feel natural. It's a fresh dynamic that the show really needed, and honestly, they've become one of my favorite pairings already. The six-month time jump also works because we get to see those relationships grow instead of starting from scratch. It feels like life has actually moved on since the finale instead of everyone standing still waiting for the next season. KJ is completely locked in on football. He reminds me so much of Spencer during the early seasons, where football came before everything else. That's not always a bad thing, but it also feels like it could end up being his biggest weakness if he doesn't find some balance. I also wasn't expecting Jordan and Coop to have so many scenes together, but I'm glad the OGs are still carrying a lot of the show now that Spencer isn't around as much. Their chemistry still works, and I actually love the "Smash and Crash" tradition where everybody gets together for smash burgers and just hangs out. Those scenes remind you why these friendships have lasted so long. Of course, things aren't perfect at home. Layla comes back hoping for some quiet time with Jordan only to find the house full of people. It doesn't seem like a huge deal at first, but it's another sign that Jordan isn't really paying attention to what his wife needs. Khalil, meanwhile, is still doing his own thing. As Coop hilariously puts it, he's "hanging with all the hoes," but underneath all that, he's still checking in on KJ. I have a feeling whatever is brewing between those two is going to explode before the season is over. And yes... the CW relationship drama is alive and well. KJ and Tori, Jordan and Layla, Khalil and whoever he's talking to this week, the tension between KJ and Khalil, Jordan and Cassius... if you've watched All American, you already know relationships are always going to be messy. Episode 2 Turns Up the Heat Episode 2 picks up with only five days until the football showcase, and I actually love that KJ and Khalil have been secretly training together. Khalil losing Stanford really raised the stakes because now this showcase is everything for him. Seeing Jordan and Cassius working out alongside KJ and Khalil was another fun moment. It's little scenes like that which make this version of All American feel different from past seasons. I was honestly shocked when Jordan convinced Cassius to bring the showcase to Crenshaw. That felt like a huge win... until everything fell apart and Jordan had to pivot to Beverly instead. That's pretty much Jordan in a nutshell. He's always figuring things out on the fly. Cassius finding out about KJ and Khalil's secret workouts could've gone much worse. Instead, he actually supports it. His "iron sharpens iron" speech was one of my favorite moments because he understands that great players make each other better. At the same time, he's smart enough to know keeping it quiet is probably for the best. Jordan and Layla continue heading in the wrong direction. Jordan cancels brunch because football once again takes priority, and Layla's simple thumbs-up emoji said everything that needed to be said. If you've ever gotten that text, you already know it's never just a thumbs-up. Thankfully, Cassius notices what's happening and gives Jordan the advice he needed. He basically tells him to stop talking and start putting the work into his marriage. I don't know why Jordan needed someone else to tell him that, but hopefully it finally clicks. Amina's return also adds some more drama. She reunites with KJ, but the moment doesn't last long because Tori shows up and immediately makes things awkward. Then we get that painfully uncomfortable hangout with KJ, Tori, Khalil, Miranda, and Amina where Amina basically becomes the fifth wheel. Tori is messy... and I don't think she's slowing down anytime soon. Khalil also has to deal with his mom, Tash, showing back up. Layla tries talking to him about giving her another chance, but Khalil has already made up his mind. Later, Tash even shows up at Layla's house looking for him, and Jordan arrives just in time to help diffuse the situation. Elsewhere, Coop continues working toward her law career with Breonna, but I'll admit those scenes felt rushed. The show has so many storylines going at once that sometimes characters only get a minute or two before we're jumping somewhere else. That's probably my biggest complaint with these first two episodes. At times, it feels like the show is trying to juggle a little too much. The episode ends with Principal Landon sending Jordan a message that clearly isn't good news for cassius. Whatever's coming next, it feels like it's going to create some major problems moving forward. Overall, I think these first two episodes do exactly what they needed to do. They introduce new storylines, strengthen some relationships, create tension in others, and remind us why we've spent eight seasons with these characters. There are definitely a lot of moving pieces, and sometimes it feels a little crowded, but the heart of All American is still there.

In Outstanding Lead Actress, Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie give Beyond the Gates a powerful one-two punch, while Michelle Stafford continues proving why she's one of daytime's most reliable performers for The Young and the Restless. Heather Tom represents The Bold and the Beautiful, and Stacy Haiduk earns another well-deserved nomination for Days of our Lives. Over on the actor side, daytime legends continue to dominate. Despite his previous high profile battle with blood cancer the family verified that he was completely cancer free at the time of his death. The extended family of Sam Neill released a statement confirming that he died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was receiving treatment at St Vincents Private Hospital in Sydney when he passed away on Monday July 13, 2026 at 78 years old. Sure, internet skeptics pointed to early episodes where Bryce expressed minor doubts to his bestie Zach about whether Trinity liked him. Last week on Beyond the Gates was painfully slow, but by the end of it, one storyline may have finally picked up some steam. Monday Thankfully, Kat rejects Tomas’ proposal. Unfortunately, she is still holding on to that robot. Joey asks Randy about Deanna and tells him that he doesn’t trust her. Color me surprised when Randy experiences a flicker of guilt and hesitates to do Joey’s bidding when it involves his best friend’s daughter. Now, if only he would avenge said best friend instead of tap-dancing for the crime lord. Since we know this show, despite having a largely Black target audience, does not care about optics, I am sure that will never happen. Eva and Izaiah celebrate her homecoming. They are sweet, but man, are they boring. I am even more convinced that this show cannot write romance. Andre and Dani were the blueprint, and the writers haven’t gotten it right since. Then they proceeded to ruin them in favor of Dani’s emotionally manipulative mental and emotional abuser. Oh joy. Tuesday Anita’s surgery is successful, and she is back to herself, rocking a slamming pixie cut. I love her, and I love that she is on the mend. Chelsea and Kat talk about Tomas, and Kat admits that she fears he will seek solace elsewhere because she refused to marry him. Dear Kat, if you have to worry about your man sleeping with your sister whenever his ego gets bruised, that is a flashing neon sign telling you to move on. Chelsea suggests as much, telling Kat that maybe Tomas simply isn’t the one for her. Kat, however, does not like to lose, so she ignores the warning and begins making plans to buy a condo for the two of them. When she tells Tomas, he turns her down. Dear writers, is this an ego thing? Are y’all so protective of this storyline that you must force this farce of a relationship to work, even to the detriment of one of the show’s first daughters? The audience hates this pairing, and it does absolutely nothing for Kat, who is a fan favorite. It is truly perplexing. Tomas goes to visit Eva so that she can stroke his wounded ego. He brings her a book, and Izaiah is not happy about it. Still, being the man that he is, he gives them time to talk. Tomas vents to Eva, but she tells him off and insists that he tell Kat about their conversation. Then she gives him some solid advice. Thanks for the small favor, writers. I guess. Joey begins worrying about Deanna when Vanessa tells him that she hired her. I hate this man. Anyway, Deanna receives her first assignment: selling Kat a condo. I love this budding friendship. Wednesday Leslie tries to prove that she has changed, but Christian Mona isn’t having it. Do you see the contradiction? Grayson gets a side job at The Uptown, and I hate everything about it. The Uptown already has bartenders. I see you, writers, and production team. You saw the backlash over the show’s sudden influx of casting choices that lacked melanin, so now you are rotating different bartenders through The Uptown to soften the blow of Grayson becoming the main bartender we will actually see. Why couldn’t he work at the clinic? Unfortunately for Kat, she and Tomas reach a compromise about moving in together. I am bored. Thursday Naomi shares her diagnosis with Dani, which somehow leads to Dani lashing out at Andre. Dani is my favorite character, but the writing for her lately has been incredibly shady. Andre did not deserve the way she treated him, especially considering that she cheated on him and is now projecting her guilt and frustration onto him. Naomi later tells Jacob. He is initially upset, but he quickly forgives her and promises to stand beside her. Dani goes to thank Ashley for doing the bare minimum and being a friend to her friend because, of course, she does. We cannot allow an entire week to pass without feeding Ashley’s main-character syndrome. Kat tells the grans that she is moving out. Friday Leslie and Darlene begin forming a friendship because, on this show, Leslie must stay winning at all times. Meanwhile, Bill suffers a medical crisis during Madison’s deposition. Looks like the poison is starting to kick in. Final Thoughts on the Week This week was blah. It was slow, packed with filler, and offered very little forward momentum. I am beyond tired of the Kat humiliation ritual, and I am completely over Tomas as a character. Please bring in a new love interest for Kat. Call Tajh Bellow. See if he is willing to come to the A.

Port Charles delivered emotional confrontations, shocking reveals, surprising reunions and enough relationship drama to keep nearly every corner of the canvas moving. The series continues balancing its sprawling cast surprisingly well, allowing longtime rivalries and newer stories to intersect in ways that make every episode feel important. The fallout from Director Cullum's reign of terror continues to reshape Port Charles, and the writers wisely resisted wrapping everything up too neatly. Instead, the consequences continue to ripple throughout the town. Cassius finds himself blamed for crimes he didn't commit after the WSB pins Cullum's actions on him, while Z presents him with an offer that could completely alter his future. It adds another intriguing wrinkle to an already complicated story and leaves plenty of room for future twists. Meanwhile, Josslyn has quickly embraced her new life in the WSB, and the transformation is impossible to ignore. Her willingness to negotiate, manipulate situations and even use Valentin to send messages shows just how much she's changed. Whether fans agree with her methods or not, she's become one of the show's most unpredictable characters. It's a fascinating evolution that gives Eden McCoy plenty to work with, and she continues making every scene feel layered. Speaking of Valentin, his return immediately shakes up multiple relationships. His reunion with Carly provides some genuinely sweet moments before reality inevitably comes crashing back down. Lulu's fury over Charlotte secretly seeing her father was completely understandable, setting up what looks to be another emotionally charged custody battle. Charlotte revealing just how much she knew about Valentin's time in Port Charles only adds more fuel to an already simmering family conflict. Over at General Hospital, Lucas finally receives the confirmation that Britt never had Huntington's disease, exposing Cullum's cruel manipulation. The revelation should have been a moment of celebration, but instead it becomes heartbreaking after Lucas realizes Marco died for absolutely nothing. Van Hansis delivers the emotional weight of Lucas' guilt beautifully, making his downward spiral feel earned rather than forced. Watching him seek comfort at Elizabeth's house while struggling to process everything gave the week some of its strongest emotional beats. Elizabeth once again proves she's one of the most reliable characters on the canvas. Teaming up with Lucas to investigate the mysterious illnesses connected to Drew and Willow's home gives the medical mystery a welcome boost. Rather than simply reacting to events, Elizabeth actively pushes the story forward, something the character has excelled at for years. Elsewhere, Sonny continues tightening his grip on every situation around him. His confrontation with Sidwell at the Jerome Gallery not only removes another dangerous threat but also deepens his growing connection with ADA Turner. Their chemistry continues building naturally, creating a pairing that feels surprisingly fresh. At the same time, Sidwell's confrontation with Jordan serves as a reminder that even behind bars, he's still a dangerous man with revenge on his mind. Family remained the emotional backbone of the week. Dante and Rocco continue taking meaningful steps toward repairing their relationship after the shooting, while Danny finally tells Brennan the truth about who actually pulled the trigger. Anna's emotional return home also lands effectively, especially as memories of her captivity continue haunting her. Her refusal to help clear Cassius' name shows that forgiveness won't come easily, giving the story additional emotional complexity. The Quartermaine drama also refuses to slow down. Martin's long-awaited return provides plenty of laughs before reality crashes down around him, while Lucy's maneuvering restores her control of Deception. Chase's growing suspicion surrounding Brook Lynn's role in framing Willow threatens to blow apart another marriage, proving that even personal victories in Port Charles rarely last very long. Perhaps the biggest strength of the week was its balance. Nearly every major storyline moved forward without feeling rushed, and characters who had spent weeks on the sidelines were finally given meaningful material. Rather than relying solely on shocking reveals, the show invested in emotional fallout, allowing the performances to carry many of the biggest moments. There are still plenty of unanswered questions heading into next week, especially surrounding Cassius, Drew and Willow, Ethan's mysterious secret and the growing tension surrounding Valentin's return. With the milestone 16,000th episode arriving, General Hospital has positioned nearly every major player exactly where they need to be for another eventful chapter.
