The 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards nominees have officially arrived, and one thing is crystal clear: daytime television is having a very interesting year. The veterans are still standing tall, familiar faces continue to rack up nominations, and then there's Beyond the Gates, which came in swinging like it had something to prove. Spoiler alert—it did.

This year's nominations celebrate everything from daytime dramas and talk shows to lifestyle programming and travel series, but the biggest conversation is centered around the soap category. And honestly? It's deserved.

CBS' newest daytime drama, Beyond the Gates, wasted absolutely no time establishing itself as an awards contender. Landing nominations for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, writing, casting, multiple acting races, and several technical categories, the freshman series isn't simply happy to be invited—it showed up expecting a seat at the head of the table.

That's especially impressive considering it joins longtime powerhouses General Hospital, Days of our Lives, and The Young and the Restless in the race for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series. Notice who's missing? The Bold and the Beautiful. Despite earning acting and craft nominations across the board, the CBS staple couldn't crack the Drama Series lineup, making it one of the morning's biggest surprises.

The acting races feel equally competitive. In Outstanding Lead Actress, Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie give Beyond the Gates a powerful one-two punch, while Michelle Stafford continues proving why she's one of daytime's most reliable performers for The Young and the Restless. Heather Tom represents The Bold and the Beautiful, and Stacy Haiduk earns another well-deserved nomination for Days of our Lives.

Over on the actor side, daytime legends continue to dominate. Eric Braeden is back in contention for The Young and the Restless, Steve Burton scores another nomination for General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful lands two nominees with Scott Clifton and Thorsten Kaye. Christian Jules Le Blanc rounds out an impressive field that feels packed with familiar names fans have rooted for over the years.

Supporting categories tell a similar story. The Young and the Restless remains a force with nominations for Camryn Grimes, Beth Maitland, Sean Dominic, Michael Graziadei, and Roger Howarth, while Beyond the Gates continues its remarkable debut thanks to recognition for Trisha Mann-Grant, Timon Kyle Durrett, Mike Manning, and guest performer Jasmine Burke.

That's not a lucky break—that's momentum.

The Emerging Talent category also deserves some attention. New faces from General Hospital, Days of our Lives, and Beyond the Gates are getting their flowers, signaling that daytime television is investing in its next generation instead of relying solely on familiar stars. You love to see it.

Outside the soap world, the talk show competition remains stacked. The Kelly Clarkson Show, The View, The Drew Barrymore Show, Live with Kelly and Mark, 3rd Hour of TODAY, and TODAY with Jenna & Friends all earned nominations for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series, making that category one of the toughest to predict. Kelly Clarkson also picked up another nomination for Outstanding Talk Series Host, where she'll compete against Jennifer Hudson, Tamron Hall, Sherri Shepherd, and the panel from The View.

Elsewhere, Netflix made a respectable showing with With Love, Meghan earning a nomination for Outstanding Lifestyle Program, while Apple's Long Way Home continues collecting recognition in the travel and technical categories. PBS once again proves it remains a quiet powerhouse, earning nominations across culinary, travel, instructional, and documentary-

style programming.

Looking across the entire ballot, one theme stands out. The Television Academy rewarded both consistency and fresh energy. Long-running favorites continue delivering the performances audiences expect, while newer series are proving there's still room for fresh voices in daytime television.

If there was one headline to come out of nomination morning, though, it's impossible to ignore Beyond the Gates. Launching a new daytime soap in today's television landscape is already a gamble. Turning around and becoming one of the most nominated drama series in your first year? Whew. That's a statement.

Now comes the hard part—turning nominations into trophies.

With legendary performers, breakout newcomers, and several genuinely unpredictable races, the 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards are shaping up to be one of the more entertaining ceremonies daytime fans have had in years. Whether you're rooting for the old guard or cheering on the new kid on the block, there's plenty to debate before the envelopes are opened.
