Zootopia 2 Home Release Dates: When to Watch the billion-dollar Beasts from Your Couch

A fox, rabbit, and snake leap mid-air near cliffs with a mountain and house in the background. The scene is colorful and energetic.

Pull your bunny slippers out of storage and try to act surprised: Disney’s Zootopia 2 is officially heading to your living room. After shattering box office records and proving that we are all still weirdly obsessed with talking animals in business suits, the sequel to the 2016 Oscar winner is making the jump to home media. Whether you’re a die-hard Judy Hopps stan or just someone who enjoys seeing a sloth operate heavy machinery, the wait is nearly over.

Disney has confirmed that Zootopia 2 sets its Digital release date for January 27, 2026, with the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release following on March 3, 2026.

The Box Office Beast Comes Home

After raking in a staggering $1.7 billion worldwide, Zootopia 2 didn't just walk into the history books; it kicked the door down. It currently sits as the highest-grossing animated film in history, finally giving Frozen II and Inside Out 2 a run for their mouse-eared money.

The sequel reunites Ginnifer Goodwin’s Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman’s Nick Wilde, now officially a detective duo as they track a mysterious reptile that threatens to upend the city’s predator-prey balance. It’s essentially a buddy-cop noir film, but with more fur and significantly fewer HR complaints.

Digital vs. Physical: Choose Your Fighter

Starting January 27, you can snag a digital copy on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. This is perfect for those who have zero patience and a decent internet connection.

However, if you’re a physical media purist (or you just like shiny things on your shelf), you’ll want to mark March 3 on your calendar. The physical rollout includes:

  • 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray Combo Packs

  • Standard DVD

  • A Limited-Edition Steelbook featuring some pretty slick artwork of the Marsh Market district.

Disney is also sweetening the pot with the usual "Special Features" buffet. Expect deleted scenes that probably should have stayed deleted, a deep dive into the new reptilian characters, and a featurette on how they managed to make a walrus look fashionable.

What About Disney+?

In true corporate fashion, Disney is staying silent on the exact Disney+ streaming date. They want you to buy the movie first, obviously. Based on previous release windows, we can likely expect Zootopia 2 to hit the streaming service late in the spring, but for now, the only way to skip the theater lines is to pay the premium digital price.

Zootopia 2 managed the rare feat of being a sequel that actually had something to say, even if it said it through a very charismatic lizard. It’s fast, it’s funny, and it’s arguably the best-looking thing Disney Animation has put out in a decade.

Whether you’re buying it for the kids or your own secret collection of Gazelle merch, these release dates mean the urban jungle is only a few weeks away. Keep your eyes peeled on The TV Cave for more updates on where to stream your favorite hits. Are you double-dipping for the Steelbook, or is the digital version enough for your commute?
