Animal Masks, Safety Deposit Boxes and A Murder for $40
A murder investigation headed by Angie and Ormewood takes place at a local bank. They watch a video from the security cameras and see a customer angry over being shorted money at the ATM. He sees some people inside the bank and yells to them he wants his money, $40.00. Those were the last words he uttered. The people who shot him were dressed in animal masks, and just finished robbing the bank. They did not need any witnesses as they made a clean getaway.
Mr. Price, the bank branch manager, is having a meltdown and no help to the investigation. Angie and Ormewood begin checking the safety deposit boxes room. They immediately see that one of the safety deposit boxes was tampered with, and ask for the owner’s identity. Price says it’s against policy to reveal that information. Angie and Ormewood don’t have time to waste, and go get a warrant. They know these bank robbers are pros.
Jennings Luxury Matchmaking
In the morgue, Amanda, Will and Faith meet with Pete over the latest GBI murder case, Sawyer Jennings. Amanda says a lot of powerful Atlanta people use the Jennings Luxury Matchmaking Services. That’s why they were called in to investigate. She can’t understand why people stopped just meeting people on their own, chance encounters. Pete adds that he’s involved with a hermit movement. He’s happy to be a part of the new trend and offers to get information to everyone. Will, Faith and Amanda simultaneously adamantly say they don't want to know anything about that. Pete returns his attention to their murder victim who was shot with his back turned. It happened outside the victim’s home. Will suggests it could have been a disgruntled client. Faith looks through the women posted on the services website. They have identical backgrounds, ages and are event planners. Will says whatever they do, the description is vague enough no follow-up questions are asked. Faith gives them some information about her dating experiences, and what happens when she tells her date she works for the GBI. Amanda is shocked when she tells her date her government name and that she works for the government. Faith gets a text and runs away.
Nice to Meet You, Malcolm
Faith goes to interview the Jennings Luxury Matchmaking Services’ CEO’s business partner, Ms. Somerman. They were good friends. There was no animosity or disagreements, and they talked all the time. Ms. Somerman had a legitimate alibi. There was an odd fee amount charged to their male and female clients. Men were charged $50,000 for a membership and women only $5,000. Faith questioned this, and asked if she charged women, it would seem like prostitution. Ms. Somerman said the services they provide have a steep price. They bring people together and help them find joy. Faith asked for the client list contact information. Ms. Somerman offered to help Faith find her joy and gave her their company’s business card. Faith tears up the card. Later that night, she dumps her date without meeting him after he asks if she can help him beat his parking ticket. Meanwhile, a great looking guy approaches her at the bar, and tells her how stunning she is. She destroys his introductory line and asks him to sit. Faith introduces herself, but doesn’t give her real name and job. They get to know each other. He invites her to his hotel room. Faith is happy to meet Malcolm. The morning after is very, very Good.
Faith gets to work still wearing yesterday’s outfit. Will is upset because she’s late and puts her on the spot. Amanda and Will both notice she’s still wearing yesterday’s outfit. Will notices some of her underwear hanging out of her purse. Faith tells him to be quiet, and proudly tells Amanda she didn’t use her government name and tells her date she worked for the government. Amanda and Will stop teasing Faith and refocus everyone on the Sawyer case. Jennings was with a woman, Anna Martello. She was angry-crying.
Real Detective Work-Investigating, Deducing and Tech Solves Cases
A show walking the viewer through actual police investigation and detective work, step-by-step is rare, and this show did just that with this episode. It was intriguing to watch the detectives brainstorm, then fill-in the missing pieces that were obvious and not found at the crime scenes. It’s like the old, fictitious Sherlock Holmes or Charlie Chan movies. Will in his detective trademark attire, and Faith go to interview a witness. Angie and Ormewood do exceptional reworking of all their factual crime scene details, and lots of deductive reasoning. They review all the digital evidence and find something that was overlooked. They find a very important clue that helps them quickly close in on the perpetrators and solve the case. They search the crime cases database and find something.
All cases followed the clues, information from witness interviews and data retrieved guided the detectives in the right direction. One witness interviewed gave Faith and Will valued information to help bring down untouchable murderers. A tattoo and an interview with the tattoo artist provided more information that led Angie and Ormewood to their murderer, and also saved a life. It was good seeing the behind-the-scenes investigative work and camaraderie of all the detectives.
Scenes that Add Depth, Cuteness and Develop Characters
A cute scene occurred between Captain Heller and Franklin putting together multiple pieces of a baby stroller for Angie. It was nice to see their efforts and pride rewarded with a smile and thank you from Angie. Was the baby stroller functional?
Another cute scene was seeing Faith fall in love. This was great to finally see. Did it last?
The GBI Elevator scene was by far the cutest and showed fun character interaction. Will and Faith’s partnership is hilarious enough when Will teases her about her personal life, and is on full display in the GBI elevator. Angie and Ormewood later get on that same elevator, and Ormewood spills some more information about Faith’s private business. Franklin gets on the same elevator strapped with a drill ready to work. Faith asks Angie if she can rub her tummy, and gives it a rub telling Angie’s future baby she’s her Auntie Faith. Will doesn’t like it, and quickly leaves the elevator.
Cute seeing Will on a scooter, and enjoying it. It was awesome to see that helped Will and Faith solve their case.
I enjoyed how this episode worked to join both the police force detectives and GBI together to solve the robbery case. It was so cool seeing Will and Ormewood doing surveillance together. What they discovered was a surprising way to end this episode. I was yelling “NO!” What a disaster. It was so sad for one of their own, a real gut punch, but Faith handled it well. I am very anxious to see what happens next. This was a great show. It was well-written and had excellent performances. It showed good character development and depth. This was one of their best episodes this season.
I give this episode 4.9 Stars out 5.
