Will Trent Season 3 Episode 18 ("Listening to a Heartbeat") delivered a stunning and suspense-packed finale that had everything: biological warfare, emotional stakes, character revelations, and explosive action. Here's a full recap of what went down as the GBI faced its biggest threat yet.

A Deadly Threat Unfolds in Atlanta

The Will Trent Season 3 finale begins with Atlanta under siege. A mysterious biological agent is spreading, killing people indiscriminately. No one knows what the agent is, how it's being spread, or why it was unleashed. Hospitals are overwhelmed, the CDC is on high alert, and the GBI and Atlanta Police Department are in full-blown crisis mode.

Will Trent is in the GBI conference room, piecing things together with his trademark analytical skills. Sheriff Caleb Roussard questions what the domestic terrorist group, the Founders Front, really wants. Meanwhile, Ormewood calls from the hospital with updates on the latest victim, Roy Montgomery, a homeless man and notices Nico collapse. He rushes her and Betty to safety.

Amanda Takes Command, Will Hits the Streets

Amanda confronts Sheriff Caleb, accusing him of knowing more than he’s letting on. Will, frustrated and desperate for answers, demands a crime scene. With Amanda’s approval (despite her skepticism), Will heads to investigate Montgomery’s tent with Caleb, declaring it a viable crime scene.

Over at the precinct, Angie is startled by a phone call from Dr. Seth McDale. He’s overwhelmed in the ER and tells her the disease is terrifying and still unknown. When he says “I love you,” the fear in Angie’s face says it all.

Food as a Weapon: Will Discovers the Source

At Montgomery’s tent, Will and Caleb find a dead rat in a food container, the same kind distributed by one of the terrorists to the homeless. Will calls Faith with the terrifying realization: the biological agent is being spread through contaminated takeout containers. He warns people to drop them immediately.

Amanda holds a press conference revealing the CDC has identified the bacteria as clostridium botulinum, a deadly neurotoxin. An antitoxin is being distributed, and Faith takes Angie’s place to escort the first batch to St. Peter’s Hospital. Angie, meanwhile, experiences intense pain but tries to carry on.

Terrorist Plots Deepen – Phase II Looms

Will and Caleb meet with Rosie, Benjamin’s wife, who hands over a notebook documenting the Founders Front's entire plan. There's worse news: a Phase II is coming.

Angie tells Faith she’s bleeding. Faith reassures her it may be normal in early pregnancy but urges her to call a doctor. With no time to rest, Faith and Franklin load into the armored vehicle. Ormewood drives though the GPS is down and static blocks all communication with GBI Will Trent HQ. Red flag.

Suddenly, dual attacks begin: the convoy is ambushed, and GBI headquarters is stormed. The terrorists demand Amanda Wagner. She gives herself up, instructing Will to stay on mission. They take her away.

Rescue Mission: Will and Caleb Close In

Captain Heller gets a call, Amanda’s life in exchange for Vince Korda. Will ignores orders and heads out with Caleb, who has a possible lab location. Tensions flare between them as Will lashes out over Caleb’s ignorance of domestic terrorists hiding in plain sight. Heller calls again Angie is missing.

At the convoy, the ambush intensifies. Rake, the supposed leader, turns out to be one of the Founders Front. Faith and Franklin rescue a van of girls (who turn out to be archery champs), while Ormewood covers them in a firefight. Will sends Angie a message, worried sick.

Inside the Lab: Explosive Truths and Family Revelations

At the suspected lab, Will and Caleb find Ben and the biological weapons. They arrest him and lock the remaining terrorists in the basement. Amid the chaos, Caleb tells Will he loved his mother and once planned to marry her. He lost contact and believed she wanted nothing to do with him. Caleb invites Will to dinner to meet his family, emotional threads in the middle of biological warfare.

The Girls With Arrows, the Woman With a Gun

Ormewood, Faith, and Franklin devise a plan. The girls? National archery champs. They help blow up the terrorist truck with flaming arrows. Franklin thought they were golfers which is classic.

Meanwhile, Amanda, being held captive, communicates through a light beam and coded speech to Angie. Angie sneaks through the ducts, retrieves a gun, and takes out the leader. Amanda is hit but survives. Angie radios Heller:

“All clear.”

Will to the Rescue — Just in Time

Ormewood, thinking this might be the end, tells Faith to tell his kids he was heroic. Then, BAM! Will arrives just in time for a bro-hug and recap. Ormewood gushes about the archery team. The antitoxin is successfully delivered to St. Peter’s Hospital.

Seth tells Ormewood where to find Nico, and that it’s finally over. At the hospital, Angie waits with Betty in her lap. Will joins her. She tells him she’s pregnant but thinks she’s miscarrying. He stays with her through the exam. They hear a heartbeat. A nurse calls Will "Dad," and it’s awkward. Angie thanks him for being there. Seth shows up, and Angie tells him the baby’s okay. They kiss. Will leaves quietly with Betty.

A Quiet Cliffhanger: Ormewood’s Collapse, Amanda’s Uncertainty

Back home, Ormewood’s vision blurs. He collapses and has a seizure. Faith calls 911. Meanwhile, Will visits Amanda in recovery. He prepares to wait the full 48 hours, telling her she’s his family. He and Betty stay by her side, a poignant final image to an explosive episode.
