What to Watch Thursday, October 15: ‘Crystal Lake,’ ‘The Diplomat’ & ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Lead a Huge Premiere Day

Thursday television is coming in hot, and apparently nobody told the networks and streaming services that fans only have so many hours in a day. Peacock finally unleashes Crystal Lake, Netflix brings back The Diplomat, and ABC is rolling out new seasons of 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville and Grey's Anatomy.
There's also a return to Hollywood Arts, more murder investigations with Elsbeth, and two new episodes of American Horror Story. Throw in a supernatural season finale, a little Gordon Ramsay chaos and another trip to Alan Cumming's castle, and Thursday is looking ridiculously busy.
TV Cave Top Pick: Crystal Lake
Our Top Pick goes to Crystal Lake, premiering today on Peacock with all eight episodes available to stream.
Just in time for Halloween, the Friday the 13th franchise heads back to where the nightmare began. Linda Cardellini stars as Pamela Voorhees in a prequel exploring the events surrounding Jason's tragic drowning and the devastating transformation of his mother.
Horror fans already know what Pamela eventually becomes, but Crystal Lake is interested in the woman behind the legend. Rather than simply revisiting familiar slasher territory, the series explores the grief, trauma and increasingly disturbing circumstances surrounding the Voorhees family.
Cardellini brings a fierce intensity to Pamela, giving the character emotional weight even when the storytelling becomes uneven. For fans looking to spend October with one of horror's most infamous families, this is certainly one to check out. Check out our review.

‘9-1-1,’ ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Return to ABC
ABC is bringing its entire Thursday drama lineup back tonight, starting with the Season 10 premiere of 9-1-1 at 8 PM ET.
In “That Sinking Feeling,” the 118 faces another massive emergency threatening Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Athena is adjusting to her responsibilities as a detective, and May is finding her footing in a new job.
At 9 PM, 9-1-1: Nashville returns for Season 2 with “Going Rogue.” The 113 responds to a museum emergency involving murder hornets, while newcomer Detective Rogue Kelly investigates a series of unsettling crimes. The fallout from Blythe and Dixie's explosive confrontation also continues.
Then, at 10 PM, Grey's Anatomy begins Season 23 with “Collide.” A collision at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport sends critically injured patients flooding into Grey Sloan Memorial. As the doctors scramble to manage the emergency, the hospital's controversial new VIP floor creates additional complications. Because at Grey Sloan, even a hospital renovation apparently needs its own dramatic storyline.
‘The Diplomat’ Returns With More Political Chaos
Netflix welcomes The Diplomat back for Season 4, releasing all eight episodes today. Keri Russell returns as Kate Wyler, whose already complicated marriage to Hal has become entangled with an international political crisis. Rufus Sewell, Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford also return as the relationships between Kate, Hal, President Grace Penn and Todd Penn become increasingly dangerous.
With a conspiracy involving Russian military technology threatening international stability, Kate has considerably bigger problems than figuring out whether she can trust her husband.
Of course, this is The Diplomat, so the personal drama and political disaster are practically inseparable. Fans can expect another season of shifting alliances, questionable decisions and conversations that could probably start an international incident.
‘Hollywood Arts’ Brings Back a Familiar Face
Netflix is also welcoming fans back to the Victorious universe with the premiere of Hollywood Arts.Daniella Monet reprises her role as Trina Vega, who returns to her former performing arts school as a substitute teacher. There's just one small problem: Trina isn't exactly qualified for the position.
The new series introduces another generation of talented students navigating friendships, rivalries and their dreams of making it in entertainment. For longtime Victorious fans, the nostalgia is certainly part of the appeal. Whether Trina can successfully guide a classroom full of ambitious teenagers is another question entirely, especially considering her own history of chasing the spotlight.

‘American Horror Story’ and ‘Coven Academy’ Bring the Halloween Drama
FX continues American Horror Story: 13 tonight with two episodes beginning at 9 PM ET. The latest installment continues revisiting familiar characters and supernatural conflicts, including the witches of Miss Robichaux's Academy. With the season approaching its conclusion, the danger surrounding the coven is becoming increasingly difficult to escape.
Meanwhile, Freeform wraps the first season of Coven Academy with its final three televised chapters. The supernatural drama follows young witches and warlocks navigating dangerous relationships, mysterious powers and the secrets surrounding their school. Tonight's finale brings the season's conflicts to a head, giving fans another option for their October watchlists.
CBS and NBC Keep the Drama Going
CBS continues its Thursday lineup with Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, the vampire comedy Eternally Yours, Elsbeth and Cupertino. Carrie Preston's Elsbeth returns with another murder investigation, this time involving the suspicious death of a young playwright. Over on Cupertino, Mike Colter's Michael Price and Rachel Keller's Olivia Siffre take on another case involving Silicon Valley's powerful technology industry.
NBC also has a full evening of new programming, beginning with The Traitors: New Blood at 8 PM. Alan Cumming's civilian competition continues testing the contestants' ability to separate friends from enemies, followed by new episodes of Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order. Between the murder mysteries, legal battles and reality competition betrayals, Thursday is offering plenty of reasons to distrust just about everyone on television.
With Crystal Lake, The Diplomat, Hollywood Arts and three ABC season premieres, this is one of October's strongest television nights. Whether fans are looking for horror, political drama, medical emergencies or a little nostalgia, there's plenty to keep the remote busy.
