What to Watch Saturday, August 29: The Copycat Killer, Much About Love & College Football

Saturday television is officially starting to look like fall. College football is back, NASCAR hits Daytona for its regular-season finale, and Lifetime and Hallmark are going head-to-head with two very different original movies at 8 p.m.

Streaming has a couple of additions too, including the premiere of Netflix’s new Korean drama Four Hands, Two Sonatas.

But our TV Cave Top Pick goes to a familiar face from The Rookie trading police work for a very different kind of investigation.

Melissa O'Neil leads Lifetime's new thriller The Copycat Killer, premiering tonight at 8 p.m. ET. O'Neil plays Dr. Eleanor Douglas, a criminal profiler who stepped away from the spotlight after capturing a serial killer known as the Sigil Slayer. When she attends a true-crime conference and a fan is murdered using the same signature, Eleanor is forced back into a case she thought she'd left behind. Greyston Holt and Peter Facinelli also star.

Between O'Neil getting a showcase away from The Rookie and a premise involving a profiler being confronted with a killer apparently copying her most infamous case, this gets our Top Pick ribbon today.

Today's broadcast schedule is confirmed across current listings, with Hallmark also confirming Much About Love premieres at 8 p.m. and streams on Hallmark+ the following day.  UFC confirms Nurmagomedov vs. Song begins at 6 a.m. ET on Paramount+, while NASCAR's Daytona race is scheduled for tonight.

Hallmark Goes Shakespeare While Lifetime Goes Serial Killer

If sports aren't your thing, 8 p.m. is where Saturday gets interesting.

Hallmark's Much About Love stars Ashley Williams as a television director who returns to her theater roots for a Shakespeare festival, only to encounter an old flame played by Niall Matter. It's a contemporary spin on Much Ado About Nothing, so expect considerably more flirting and considerably fewer murder investigations than the movie airing across the dial on Lifetime.

Lifetime, meanwhile, has Melissa O'Neil hunting a copycat murderer. So tonight's decision is essentially second-chance romance or serial killer. Choose your Saturday-night vibe accordingly.

Netflix also debuts Four Hands, Two Sonatas  today, while Hulu adds complete seasons of 1000-lb Sisters and Four Weddings. Disney+ and Hulu also have a new Flex x Cop Season 2 episode
