What to Watch Friday, October 30: ‘Dexter: Resurrection,’ ‘Nocturne’ & ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’

Halloween weekend is arriving with serial killers, supernatural threats, major finales and plenty of drama. Dexter: Resurrection returns for Season 2, Apple TV introduces its chilling new thriller Nocturne, and Avatar: Seven Havens wraps its first chapter with four episodes.

Meanwhile, CBS delivers another full night of Edgewater and Boston drama, NBC's Happy's Place pays tribute to Dolly Parton, and the Daytime Emmy Awards celebrate television's biggest daytime stars. Friday isn't exactly easing us into the weekend.

TV Cave Top Pick: Nocturne

Liev Schreiber stars as Jonah Lynn, a former soldier turned homicide detective who leaves Philadelphia hoping for a quieter life in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, his plans unravel when the terrifying serial killer Jurek Walter, played by Stephen Graham, threatens everything Jonah has tried to protect.

Zazie Beetz also stars as FBI agent Saga Bauer, whose involvement in the investigation makes an already dangerous situation even more personal. With a disturbing central mystery, a strong cast and enough tension to make you reconsider every unlocked door, Nocturne is a fitting way to kick off Halloween weekend.
