Wednesday is serving up a little bit of everything, from returning favorites and reality TV showdowns to finales, documentaries and enough streaming options to make choosing just one show feel unnecessarily difficult.
Paramount+ kicks things off early with the Season 2 premiere of Average Joe, while Netflix welcomes a fresh group of singles for Love Is Blind: UK Season 3. Apple TV has the limited series finale of Lucky, Prime Video keeps the pressure on with a new Reacher, and NBC, CBS, FOX and ABC take over primetime with America’s Got Talent, Big Brother, MasterChef and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
Then there is Bravo, because obviously Wednesday night was not going to remain peaceful. The Valley wraps its Season 3 reunion before Next Gen NYC heads into Friendsgiving, while FX delivers another unsettling hour of The Shards.

The TV Cave Top Pick: ‘Average Joe’ Returns for Season 2
Average Joe earns Wednesday’s top spot as the Paramount+ series returns with its first two Season 2 episodes. Joe is already hitting rock bottom when a frightening phone call pulls him and his friends into another dangerous situation, this time with his family’s lives at stake and Africa waiting on the other side.
After everything Joe survived before, apparently getting a quiet reset was never really an option.
‘Reacher’ Looks Ready to Change the Game
There is also plenty happening over on Reacher, where several storylines appear ready to collide. Reacher is interrogating Sampson, Tamara is breaking into a government facility and Jacob receives devastating news before the team uncovers information capable of changing the entire situation.
Basically, this does not look like the episode where everyone grabs dinner and talks through their feelings.
Reality TV Takes Over Wednesday Night
Reality fans have several reasons to keep the remote nearby. Big Brother puts the Power of Veto up for grabs as Angela, Dee and Haley find themselves among the six competitors, while America’s Got Talent reveals which quarterfinal acts survived Tuesday’s vote.
Bravo brings even more drama with the final installment of The Valley Season 3 reunion. Lala is standing her ground, Kristen is emotional and Janet is opening up, meaning this reunion apparently plans to use every last minute available to it.
Later, Next Gen NYC celebrates Friendsgiving, though Ariana’s relationship with Liam and those lingering questions about Charlie in Vegas suggest the dinner table may not be the only thing getting attention.
Streaming Has Plenty to Keep You Busy
Anyone planning to skip traditional primetime has enough streaming television to stay occupied for hours. Love Is Blind: UK returns with eight episodes of Season 3 right out of the gate, giving viewers another group of singles willing to bet their romantic futures on conversations through a wall.
Apple TV closes the book on Lucky with its limited series finale, while Ted Lasso continues Richmond’s attempt to build a women’s team and Trying sends Nikki and Jason to Tuscany.
Netflix also gets serious with Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing, continuing an investigation into Boeing and the questions surrounding the company following the death of whistleblower John Barnett.
What Are You Watching Tonight?
Whether Wednesday belongs to Average Joe, Reacher, The Valley, Big Brother, Love Is Blind: UK or something completely different, August 19 offers plenty of choices across broadcast, cable and streaming.
The hardest part might just be figuring out what gets the live watch and what gets added to the increasingly judgmental DVR queue.
