The Gilded Age Season 4 Teaser Is Here, and Agnes Is Ready for Revenge

The gloves are officially coming off because The Gilded Age Season 4 is finally giving us a real look at what’s ahead. HBO dropped the first official teaser for the highly anticipated fourth season on August 25, and let’s just say the elite of New York are still finding new ways to make their problems our entertainment.

The Emmy nominated HBO drama will return Sunday, November 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and HBO Max, with an eight episode season waiting to drag us right back into the world of lavish parties, complicated relationships, social maneuvering and enough family drama to make anyone grateful they don’t live in 1880s New York.

Agnes Van Rhijn Has Had Enough

If there is one person who appears particularly ready to reclaim her place in New York society, it’s Agnes van Rhijn. Christine Baranski’s legendary character is front and center in the new teaser as the van Rhijn family prepares for a very important presidential dinner. And Agnes is not about to let anyone ruin her moment.

The dinner is clearly a major event for the family, with Agnes stressing just how much their reputation depends on its success. Considering this is Agnes we’re talking about, you already know she is going to have opinions about every single detail. The teaser also gives us a glimpse of President Grover Cleveland, played by Jim Gaffigan, as the presidential visit becomes part of the season’s social battle.

Bertha and George Russell Are Still a Mess

Meanwhile, the Russell marriage is giving us plenty to worry about. Season 3 left George and Bertha Russell in a very complicated place, and Season 4 appears ready to pick up those pieces. George tells Bertha that she may be the key to the family’s survival, but their relationship is clearly under enormous pressure.

Bertha’s rise through New York society may have brought her closer to everything she wanted, but the teaser makes it clear that success comes with a price. Carrie Coon’s Bertha is seen trying to navigate the consequences of her choices while keeping the cracks in her marriage from becoming public knowledge.Then there’s George holding a gun. Because apparently we weren’t already stressed enough.

Peggy, Marian and Larry Are Moving Forward

The new season also continues the stories of some of our favorite younger characters.

Peggy Scott is facing another major challenge as she attempts to find acceptance within her future in laws’ family while continuing to establish herself on her own terms. Denée Benton’s Peggy has come a long way, and Season 4 looks ready to push her even further.

Marian, meanwhile, is preparing to forge a new path for herself. The teaser also gives fans another glimpse at Marian and Larry together, suggesting that their relationship will remain an important part of the season.

And then there’s Oscar, who may be discovering that his latest social maneuver is more complicated than he expected.

Basically, nobody in this world is allowed to simply have a nice day.

When Does The Gilded Age Season 4 Premiere?

The Gilded Age Season 4 premieres Sunday, November 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and HBO Max. The fourth season will consist of eight episodes.

The new season brings back Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, Morgan Spector, Cynthia Nixon, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson and the rest of the sprawling ensemble. Season 4 also introduces several new faces, including Jim Gaffigan as President Grover Cleveland, Dennis Haysbert, Neal Huff, Bonnie Milligan, Maggie Kuntz and others.

After everything that happened last season, The Gilded Age clearly isn’t slowing down. Bertha wants to protect everything she has built, Agnes wants her place back, Peggy is fighting for her future and the Russells may have bigger problems than keeping up appearances. So, naturally, we’ll be watching every single minute.
