Tamera Mowry-Housley Is Scrubbing In for ‘Scrubs’ Season 2

Tamera Mowry-Housley is heading to Sacred Heart.

The actress has joined Scrubs Season 2 in a guest-starring role, adding another familiar face to ABC’s revived comedy just days before the show returns. Mowry-Housley will play Dr. Steffie, a pediatric doctor who takes an interest in Tosh and attempts to convince the young doctor to choose pediatrics as her specialty.

Mowry-Housley is set to appear during the second episode of the two-part Season 2 premiere, giving viewers an early introduction to Dr. Steffie as the new season gets underway. While the role is currently described as a guest appearance, her connection to Tosh gives the character an immediate place within one of the show’s newer storylines.

The casting also brings Mowry-Housley back into the sitcom world where many viewers first got to know her. She famously starred alongside her twin sister Tia Mowry in Sister, Sister, which ran for six seasons, and later led the comedy Roommates. More recently, Mowry-Housley has appeared across television, film and unscripted programming, including several holiday movies and her years as a co-host of The Real.

What to Expect From Scrubs Season 2

The revived Scrubs continues the story of John “J.D.” Dorian, Christopher Turk and Elliot Reid, with Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke back at Sacred Heart. This time around, the former young doctors have become experienced professionals helping guide a new generation while still dealing with the personal and professional complications that made the original series a fan favorite.

ABC describes the new chapter as one in which J.D., Turk and Elliot have gone from interns to established figures at the hospital, balancing their own lives while inspiring the doctors coming up behind them.

Mowry-Housley’s Dr. Steffie now becomes part of that mix, and her attempts to steer Tosh toward pediatrics could give the younger doctor another important voice as she figures out exactly what kind of physician she wants to become.

Scrubs Season 2 premieres with two episodes Wednesday, September 30 at 8/7c on ABC, with episodes also available to stream on Hulu.
