Star Trek Takes Over SDCC 2026: Everything Announced at the Hall H Presentation
If there was ever any doubt that the Star Trek universe is thriving, Paramount+ and CBS Studios put those questions to rest during San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The franchise boldly took over Hall H on Saturday with a celebration honoring Star Trek's 60th anniversary, exclusive footage from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and a surprise casting announcement for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
Needless to say, Hall H was the place to be for Trek fans. The presentation kicked off by celebrating six decades of Star Trek history with Rod Roddenberry welcoming fans before a star-studded lineup of franchise favorites took the stage. The anniversary panel brought together George Takei, Michael Dorn, Robert Picardo, Dominic Keating, Cirroc Lofton, Doug Jones, Michelle Hurd, Jerry O'Connell, Christina Chong, and Starfleet Academy actor Karim Diané for a conversation reflecting on the franchise's incredible legacy.
While looking back was certainly part of the celebration, the panel quickly shifted its focus toward what's next. One of the day's biggest announcements came when Karim Diané revealed that Ruaridh Aldington has joined Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 2 as a series regular. Aldington will portray Keats, a mysterious young alien the cadets encounter during an away mission. After making the risky decision to bring him back to Starfleet Academy, they soon discover Keats is a wanted man whose life is in danger, setting up what sounds like one of the show's biggest storylines yet.
Of course, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds wasn't about to let Starfleet Academy have all the fun. The series' panel featured stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, and Paul Wesley, along with co-showrunners and executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, plus executive producer Alex Kurtzman.
Goldsman treated the Hall H audience to an exclusive sneak peek at what's still to come during the remainder of Strange New Worlds Season 4, giving fans their first glimpse at upcoming adventures aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. While the preview kept major story details under wraps, it offered just enough action, intrigue, and familiar faces to get the crowd buzzing.
