New York Comic Con just went full warp speed into the unknown with an exclusive sneak peek at Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 4, and let’s just say this: the Enterprise is not in Kansas anymore. Fans expecting a routine teaser were instead treated to space chaos, emotional tension and yes, actual puppets. Welcome back to the weird and wonderful galaxy where no genre is off-limits.
The cast and crew of Strange New Worlds beamed into the Star Trek Universe panel at NYCC 2025, offering fans a first look at what’s next for Captain Pike and his ever-evolving crew. Joining the panel were series stars Ethan Peck, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia and newcomer Martin Quinn, alongside executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers and franchise architect Alex Kurtzman.
The Season 4 clip shown to attendees kicks off with the Enterprise responding to a mysterious distress call. Naturally, everything goes horribly wrong. The ship loses power entirely and becomes stranded in deep space, which is probably not covered in Starfleet’s insurance plan. Pike and company are forced to launch a shuttle mission to investigate, but the tension ramps up when even their basic systems start going offline. Existential dread, but make it sci-fi.
Then there’s the puppet episode. Yes, puppets. The crew confirmed one of the upcoming episodes will feature characters transformed into fully tactile creations, courtesy of the legendary Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. It sounds bizarre, it sounds unnecessary, and it sounds exactly like something Strange New Worlds would absolutely pull off. The show has already given us musical numbers and fairy tales. Puppets? Please. Bring it on.
No official premiere date for Season 4 was announced at NYCC, but if the sneak peek is any indication, the next batch of episodes will continue pushing the boundaries of what Star Trek storytelling can look like. From ship-wide malfunctions to puppet mayhem, Strange New Worlds is boldly going where no Trek has gone before. Again.
Keep your tricorders charged and your expectations high. Season 4 is shaping up to be one hell of a ride.
