Soap Wire's Performer of the Week: Christopher Sean - Days of Our Lives

A man in a black suit with tears on his face stands against a backdrop of green foliage, conveying a somber emotion.

This week’s Soap Wire Performance of the Week may come as a surprise to some—and perhaps even feel a little unexpected. We’ve just come off two heavy weeks of Days of Our Lives, filled with heartbreak, layered emotions, and raw vulnerability following the death of John Black. But this wasn’t just a character loss; it was also a deeply personal one, as the actor behind the icon, Drake Hogestyn, also passed away. And that grief hit differently. Actually let’s be honest it hit hard.

That’s why this week, the honor goes to none other than Christopher Sean, who plays Paul Narita. Now, let’s talk soap math: retconned children are a dime a dozen in daytime, and not every one of them sticks. But Paul? He stuck. In fact, he’s one of the rare “retcon babies” that fans embraced almost immediately and I am people.

What made Paul work so well wasn’t just his charm or character growth it was the bond he shared with his father, John Black. That relationship slowly built, beautifully layered became one of the most quietly powerful dynamics on the canvas. And that’s saying something, considering how beloved John is. Christopher Sean and Drake Hogestyn had a genuine, palpable chemistry that made their scenes unforgettable.

One of my all-time favorite moments? When John showed up for Paul during Pride Month. That scene resonated deeply it was touching, affirming, and necessary. A father loving and supporting his son, period. No matter his sexuality. Everyone deserves that kind of love, and Paul was no exception.

Fast forward to this week: Paul’s grief over his father’s death hit like a freight train. The moment he spoke about their bond—about how much he loved his dad, and how he looked forward to one more baseball game—tears. Literal tears streamed down Christopher’s face as he delivered those lines. You could feel the depth of that loss, the ache, the weight of it all. His grief felt real. His facial expressions, his trembling voice, the sheer vulnerability—it wasn’t acting. It was art.

So, this week’s Performance of the Week goes to Christopher Sean for his portrayal of Paul Narita on Days of Our Lives. Thank you, Christopher, for showing us what true, heartfelt storytelling looks like. That wasn’t just a performance it was a gift.
