Days of Our Lives Weekly Recap 6-9

The week starts with everyone preparing for John Black’s funeral. At the Brady Pub, Steve tells Kayla he’s closing Black Patch—he can’t continue without his partner. Kayla knows how much he loves his job, and Steve considers retirement and what to say to Marlena. Roman joins them, and they talk about Bo’s recovery and how grateful they are. Even though Marlena doesn’t blame them, they still feel guilty.


Brady goes to pick up Rachel, who’s struggling with going to Grandpa John’s funeral, but she ultimately decides to attend.

Eric is nervous about presiding over the service, which he shares with Carrie, Belle, and Paul. Carrie encourages him, Belle hands out extra tissues, and they all toast to John with their coffee.


The funeral begins with familiar faces in attendance. Andrew and Shane are there to honor John.

Carrie and Belle talk about Sami not being able to make it—which secretly relieves Belle. Carrie thinks Sami has some nerve being upset over Belle and EJ, considering all she’s done in the past. (I chuckled—it’s true. The relationship between Carrie and Sami is the stuff of legend.)


Tate and Ari talk about her issues with her parents. Brady joins them and tells Tate that Rachel is having a hard time.

Marlena and Steve share a moment. He apologizes, but she knows he couldn’t have stopped John. He breaks down, and they hug.



Eric talks to Paul about John’s missions. Paul wishes he could’ve known more, and Andrew mentions how incredible John was—and that Paul is, too, for being his son. Johnny and Chanel arrive. Rachel sees them and runs off, acting strange. Rachel remembers going to Opening Day baseball games with John. Belle confides in Carrie that she’s unsure where things stand with EJ—she thinks her dad would disapprove. Brady walks up and confirms he would. Cat greets Shane—he’s now director. (Suspicious.)


Eric tells Roman how nervous he is because John was always there for him. He catches himself and hopes he didn’t offend Roman. Roman understands and reassures him—they’re proud of Eric. Chanel and Tate talk. He shares that they haven’t found a family to adopt yet and time is running out. Marlena tries to talk to Johnny about EJ, but he deflects, wanting to focus on John’s memory. Abe and Steve talk about their adventures with John.


As the service begins, Rachel can’t handle it. Tate and Ari offer to take her home so Brady can stay. Everyone takes their seats. Eric begins, recalling John’s welcome from Shawn and Caroline. They speak about John’s character. Brady sings “Amazing Grace.” Shane, Steve, and Abe reflect on their friendship and history with John. Shawn-D arrives to show is restless and suspects something’s going on. Hope finally tells him about John’s death. Against medical advice, he insists on paying his respects.


Kayla and Roman talk about John’s place in the Brady family. Though not related by blood, he was a brother in every way.

Belle remembers how John always protected her and even saved Eric from Stefano—he was a powerful presence in their lives. Paul shares what it meant to meet John later in life and how they formed a powerful bond. Through tears, he says he looks forward to their next baseball game. Tears. Eric reads a letter from Sami. She’s heartbroken she couldn’t be there. She speaks about their complicated past and how they rebuilt a bond that once seemed broken. Bo, still determined, convinces Hope to go with him.


Carrie shares her memories of John and Marlena and their importance in her life. She recalls their 1999 wedding and how they welcomed her as family. She recreates the moment with her siblings by placing flowers for John, as Marlena remembers their wedding. More tears. Brady remembers his father with impressions and heartfelt words.

Marlena speaks unexpectedly. She recites a poem that resonated with her before John died and reflects on their 40+ years of love—how it will live on. Bo arrives unannounced and also speaks. He expresses his gratitude and promises to carry John with him. Marlena tells Eric how proud she is of him and that John would be, too.


Kayla scolds Bo but then has her own moment for John—he was a brother to her. Johnny feels he disappointed John, but Chanel reassures him that he’s grown. Brady reflects on both his deceased parents. Belle shares a moment with Shawn.

At home, Jennifer and Jack are back. Jennifer talks to Julie about losing Doug and now John. They also mark the anniversary of Abigail’s death. Julie comforts her. Hope arrives, and she and Jennifer hug, sharing memories and grief. Jack soon joins briefly before heading to bed—they’re leaving early the next day. The women talk about Bo’s return.


Later, Marlena, Bo, Kayla, Roman, Shane, and Steve reminisce about their history with John. Marlena and Roman have a heartfelt exchange, acknowledging the pain and the love that remained.



Outside, Marlena takes a private moment to reflect on her love story with John, tearfully remembering their time together.

At the hospital, Kayla checks on Philip. Kate is there too. They talk about the funeral and hope Philip wakes up. After Kate leaves to find the manuscript, she encourages her son not to give up.


At the office, Alex and Stephanie almost have a moment. He’s been busy filling in at Titan/DiMera, with both Xander and Philip out. They’re getting close when Kate walks in. Later, she confides that she lost the manuscript but is still searching. Alex still wants to hire her.


Sarah and Maggie discuss John’s funeral, then shift to Xander. Sarah admits she still loves him.

Maggie leaves. EJ and Xander argue at the Horton Town Square about the hospital and his arrest. Xander then visits his daughter and has a heated confrontation with Sarah. They fight over custody nothing is resolved. He leaves to see their daughter while Sarah sobs to Maggie, torn between hating and loving him.


Belle visits Jada to clear her mind. They talk about EJ and Philip’s case. Belle wants to collaborate. Shawn arrives, and Belle leaves. Shawn apologizes for lying—Jada understands, thanks to Belle.


Kayla finds the manuscript and returns to her office EJ shows up. He wants to work with her. She bluntly tells him she doesn’t trust him because of what he’s done to people she loves. Still, she hopes he’s changed. He gives her budget updates and leaves. She opens the manuscript. Alex visits Stephanie. Jada leaves them alone.


Belle tries to avoid EJ, but he catches her. He tells her to be honest if she needs space. She admits she does. EJ says he understands and leaves. Shawn and Belle talk about their daughter and possibly visiting at the same time. They also talk about Jada. Shawn makes it clear that while he won’t support her the way he did in the past, he’ll still be there. They hug EJ sees them. Meanwhile, Xander walks into Philip’s hospital room… and picks up a pillow—looking like he’s about to smother him!
