Shrinking Season 3 Trailer Released: Apple TV Teases Bigger Emotions, Sharper Jokes and a Few More Therapy Rule Breaks

Two men sit at a table with a jigsaw puzzle. One wears a plaid shirt, the other a cream sweater. Lamps and art in the cozy background.

Apple TV has officially dropped the Shrinking season 3 trailer and if the first two seasons taught us anything, it’s that emotional growth rarely comes without collateral damage. The beloved comedy starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford looks ready to dig even deeper into grief, healing, and wildly questionable therapeutic advice, all while keeping its signature mix of heart and bite firmly intact.

The newly released trailer confirms that Shrinking will return on Wednesday, January 28, kicking off with a one-hour season premiere. New episodes will follow weekly, giving fans plenty of time to emotionally recover between sessions. Season 3 appears to pick up right where the chaos left off, with Segel’s Jimmy still grappling with the consequences of telling his patients exactly what he thinks, a move that remains ethically alarming but narratively irresistible.

Jason Segel continues to anchor the series with a performance that balances messy humanity and dry humor, while Harrison Ford once again proves that gruff wisdom and impeccable comic timing are a lethal combination. The trailer also spotlights returning favorites Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley, all of whom look poised for storylines that push their characters out of their comfort zones and probably into someone else’s emotional baggage.

Season 3 is also stacking the deck with guest star power. Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick, and Cobie Smulders are back, while new additions Jeff Daniels and Michael J. Fox immediately raise the stakes. Fox’s involvement, in particular, adds a layer of poignancy that fits Shrinking’s ability to blend sincerity with humor without tipping into sentimentality.

Created by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Segel, Shrinking remains one of Apple TV’s strongest comedy offerings, thriving on sharp writing and an ensemble that knows exactly when to land a joke and when to let the silence hurt a little. The season 3 trailer suggests the series isn’t interested in playing it safe. Relationships evolve, mistakes linger, and personal growth continues to be inconveniently uncomfortable.

With the Shrinking season 3 trailer released, Apple TV is signaling that its therapy comedy still has plenty to say and no intention of following the rules while saying it. Fans can revisit the first two seasons now streaming on Apple TV, or simply brace themselves for another round of laughs, emotional gut punches, and therapy sessions that absolutely would not be covered by insurance.
