Gotham’s Newest Star? Sebastian Stan Rumored to Join Robert Pattinson in Batman Sequel

Hold onto your Batarangs, Gotham fans, because The Batman Part II just got a seismic casting shake-up. Reports are swirling that Sebastian Stan, the MCU’s beloved Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, is in talks to join Robert Pattinson in the highly anticipated sequel directed by Matt Reeves. While the specifics of Stan’s character remain a closely guarded secret, this news has already sent comic book fans into a frenzy.

After the dark, brooding success of 2022’s The Batman, Reeves’ follow-up promises to dive deeper into Gotham’s morally gray underworld. The addition of Stan, whose on-screen presence effortlessly mixes charm, menace and vulnerability signals a bold move. And with Scarlett Johansson also reportedly circling a major role, it’s clear that The Batman Part II isn’t playing it safe.

So, who could Stan be playing? Theories are flying faster than the Batmobile: some suggest a twisted take on Harvey Dent/Two-Face, while others speculate on lesser-known villains like Hush or Hugo Strange. Whatever the case, Reeves has a knack for reinventing Gotham’s gallery of rogues and Stan’s proven dramatic range makes him a perfect candidate to bring a fresh, complex character to life.

Filming is expected to kick off later this year in the UK, with a theatrical release set for October 1, 2027. Pattinson returns as the brooding Batman, joined by familiar faces like Jeffrey Wright’s Commissioner Gordon and Andy Serkis’ Alfred Pennyworth. Barry Keoghan’s Joker is also rumored to make a return, hinting that the sequel could be as dark and twisted as the first film, but with even higher stakes.

Whether Stan will be Gotham’s next antihero or its newest villain remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: The Batman

Part II is shaping up to be an unmissable collision of star power, comic lore and cinematic spectacle. Fans should buckle up, the Batverse just got a major MCU-level upgrade.
