Scrubs Is Back at ABC — Here’s Who’s Returning for the Season 10 Revival

A person in blue scrubs with a stethoscope stands in a bright, white-ceilinged room. A clock is visible in the blurred background.

If you’ve been missing the weird, heartfelt, and occasionally bizarre halls of Sacred Heart Hospital, your wait is finally over. ABC has officially ordered a brand new season of Scrubs, giving fans what they’ve been begging for—a real, honest-to-goodness Scrubs revival that brings back the characters we love and the comedy we desperately need. Yes, Scrubs Season 10 is happening and it's not just a rumor from the janitor’s bucket list of pranks.

This isn’t some dusty reboot with distant ties to the original. We’re talking legit main cast returns, original creators behind the scenes, and an update that promises to mix new faces with that signature blend of slapstick, sarcasm, and sudden emotional gut punches. Here's everything you need to know about the Scrubs revival, including who’s coming back, what the show will look like now, and why fans are already diagnosing themselves with excitement.

Television reboots are a dime a dozen, but this one has weight. Scrubs was never just another hospital comedy. It was Grey's Anatomy on espresso with a Looney Tunes twist and enough genuine emotion to make even Dr. Cox tear up (behind closed doors, of course). Its offbeat style and punchy writing earned it a cult following and cemented its place as a comedy with soul.

With nostalgia driving current TV trends and the original cast openly pining for a reunion over the years, this revival makes perfect sense. ABC is betting big that audiences want more heart, humor, and friendship with a side of medical chaos.

Who’s Returning for Scrubs Revival Season 10?

The best news? This is not some sad cash grab with a few blink-and-you-miss-it cameos. Scrubs Season 10 is stacking its roster with heavy hitters from the OG cast, and we couldn’t be more pumped.

Zach Braff is Back as JD

Let’s be honest—there is no Scrubs without JD. Zach Braff is confirmed to return as Dr. John Dorian, the lovable narrator whose inner monologue is 75 percent pop culture references and 25 percent neurotic spirals. He’s back and expected to play a central role, both as a character and in mentoring the new generation of interns. Hopefully, he’s upgraded from scooter to something slightly less humiliating.

Donald Faison Returns as Turk

What is JD without Turk? Still funny, but infinitely less charming. Donald Faison is reprising his role as Dr. Christopher Turk, JD’s best friend, surgical superstar, and half of the most iconic bromance in television history. Prepare for more “guy love” and synchronized dancing in the hospital hallways.

Sarah Chalke Rejoins as Elliot Reid

Dr. Elliot Reid, neurotic queen of ambition and awkwardness, is also coming back. Sarah Chalke has signed on to return, and her character’s dynamic with JD is expected to evolve in interesting ways. Married life? Co-parenting? Still fighting about who gets to diagnose the rare disease first? TBD.

The revival is still locking down the full cast, but early reports say Judy Reyes (Carla Espinosa) and John C McGinley (Dr. Cox) are in active talks to return. And let’s be real, the show isn’t complete without Dr. Cox’s rants or Carla keeping everyone’s egos in check. Fingers crossed we also get a glimpse of The Janitor (Neil Flynn) who likely never left the building in the first place.

This revival isn't picking up where Season 9’s Med School spin-off left off. That chapter has mercifully been retired to the archives. Instead, Season 10 will refocus on Sacred Heart Hospital, where JD and Turk have stepped into more senior roles, mentoring a fresh batch of med students while trying not to lose their minds or their coffee.

The series is leaning into the mentor-mentee theme, with the original trio navigating adulthood, parenting, and the ever-changing landscape of healthcare—while still getting into ridiculously immature antics because growing up is optional.

Creator Bill Lawrence is back as executive producer, and Scrubs veterans Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra will serve as showrunners. That means the revival is in good hands and should retain the voice, rhythm, and chaotic heart that made the original show such a standout.

So grab your stethoscope, crank up “Superman” by Lazlo Bane, and prepare to re-enter Sacred Heart. Season 10 is scrubbing in, and it’s ready to make rounds—with heart, humor, and just the right amount of weird.
