If you spent the last few years watching Mike Colter and Renée Elise Goldsberry navigate the supernatural insanity of Evil, you’re probably still recovering from the psychological trauma. But while that show has headed to the great streaming graveyard in the sky, CBS has decided to get the band back together, sort of. The network has officially tapped the Tony-winning powerhouse Goldsberry to join Colter in the upcoming legal drama Cupertino, and honestly, Silicon Valley isn't ready for this level of charisma.
For those who missed out on the Kings' (Robert and Michelle) previous masterpieces, Colter and Goldsberry are essentially the prestige TV equivalent of a high-octane cocktail. In Cupertino, Colter stars as Michael, a crusading attorney who decides to take a sledgehammer to the glass ceilings and ethical basements of Silicon Valley’s tech titans.
Goldsberry is stepping into the role of Renee, a legal shark who serves as Michael’s primary antagonist. The catch? They share a "professional and romantic history" that is sure to be more combustible than a first-generation smartphone battery. It’s a "David vs. Goliath" setup, but when Goliath is played by the woman who originated Angelica Schuyler, David might want to bring more than a slingshot.
In the landscape of 2026 television, CBS is leaning hard into what it does best: smart, snappy procedurals with a pedigree. By reuniting the Evil stars with executive producers Robert and Michelle King, Cupertino bypasses the usual "new show jitters." These creators know exactly how to weaponize Goldsberry’s razor-sharp delivery and Colter’s stoic intensity.
Adding to the intrigue is Ella Stiller, who joins the cast as Christy, an ambitious assistant caught in the crossfire of Michael’s crusade against the tech elite. While the premise of "lawyer fights big tech" could easily devolve into "old man yells at cloud," the King's track record with The Good Wife and The Good Fight suggests we’re in for something much more cerebral and cynical.
Renée Elise Goldsberry is currently the busiest woman in show business, balancing this series order with her lead role in Broadway’s The Balusters, which opens this March. Her decision to return to the King-verse speaks volumes about the quality of the script.
While we’ll miss Colter fighting actual demons, watching him trade barbs with Goldsberry in a Silicon Valley boardroom feels like a fair trade-off. Cupertino is shaping up to be the centerpiece of the 2026-2027 TV season, and if the chemistry is even half as potent as it was on their previous projects, CBS has a massive hit on its hands.
Are you excited to see this duo back on screen, or are you still mourning the end of Evil? Head over to the comments and let us know if you think Michael and Renee will end up back together or if they’ll burn Cupertino to the ground first.
