We pick up right where we left off last week. Jax’s father suddenly reappears, acting as though he hasn’t been absent for eight years. His attempt to rebuild their relationship comes off a bit dismissive at first which he quickly remedies. He asks Jax for one meal and she shuts him down telling him not to come back. I suspect something deeper is going on here, and I suspect his return ties to a bigger storyline, possibly even the mystery from the season opener.
Meanwhile, Ozzy is not acting like he's been charged with murder; he's posting thirst traps and making himself a liability in Jax’s case. His behavior is poisoning the jury pool and giving Jax headaches she doesn’t need. She smartly enlists Daniel as a glorified babysitter, though managing Ozzy feels like a full-time job. Naima, on the other hand, succumbs to peer pressure, maybe more of a setup, and makes a terrible decision that lands her in jail.
At home, Jax and Lewis discuss the mounting pressure at the firm. She’s under a microscope and doesn’t like it. When the call comes about Naima, Jax heads to the station and delivers one of the episode’s standout scenes. Together, Jax and Lewis lay it out: Naima’s friends aren’t her friends, and it’s her privilege through her mother’s connections that kept her from catching real charges. The message lands with weight.
Jax’s mother lures her into what’s supposed to be a dinner for two, but instead turns into a setup with her father. She’s determined to bridge the gap between them, but it feels like Dad’s sudden reappearance has darker layers. My theory? He’s battling something serious, and he could be the person Jax discovers in the season’s first episode.
Ozzy spirals further, overdosing in a chilling scene where his sister saves him with Narcan. It’s the classic cautionary tale of a child star gone off track, surrounded by a management team more invested in image control than genuine help. Jax steps in and pushes for a therapist who actually wants to help him, and Ozzy seems to open up to her.
Back at the firm, Kathy disrespects Jax, confirming suspicions that someone is actively undermining her. Jax doesn’t back down, reminding everyone exactly who she is, but the writing on the wall is clear. The partners are plotting her downfall, enlisting Bill to spy on her and learn how she wins cases. This is giving "set up for betrayal," and honestly? It’s time for Jax to strike out on her own.
Bill’s side story continues as he tries to reconnect with his ex, while Ozzy makes a desperate phone call trying to get someone to vouch for him—only to be flatly refused.
This episode earns another ten. Secrets are bubbling just under the surface: Spencer returns in two weeks, and Jax and Lewis are preparing to tell him and Naimu about the baby. But looming questions remain: What’s really going on with Jax’s father? Who exactly is Kendra, and why is she estranged from Bill? Will Bill emerge as Jax’s ally or her enemy? And Ozzy’s plug, was he just a plug, or something more dangerous?
The tension keeps mounting. I’m already counting down to next week.
