Prime Video Pulls the Plug on Hotel Costiera - Canceled & Gone

The Amalfi Coast may still be gorgeous, but one of its fictional residents just got evicted. Prime Video has officially canceled Hotel Costiera, the sun-drenched mystery-drama that tried to mix luxury escapism with high-stakes intrigue and didn’t quite stick the landing. For a show set against some of the most breathtaking scenery in television, it never managed to rise above “background noise you put on while scrolling.”

Hotel Costiera premiered looking like it wanted to be the next big vacation thriller: a missing hotel heiress, stylish guests with secrets and Jesse Williams brooding his way through Positano like he desperately needed the world’s biggest espresso. The setup promised glamor and tension but the delivery often felt like a very pretty postcard with half the message smudged off. So when Prime Video decided to shut it down after one season, the collective reaction wasn’t shock, it was more along the lines of, “Yeah… that tracks.”

The cancellation does leave a handful of plot threads hanging, mostly because Season 1 clearly anticipated a follow-up that now isn’t happening. Characters were mid-arc, mysteries were half-formed and the final episode wrapped up with the enthusiasm of someone who just realized the party was over but the bill hadn’t been paid. If you watched the whole thing, you might feel mildly annoyed; if you didn’t, congratulations you dodged a narrative shrug.

There is a bit of industry chatter that Fremantle, the studio behind the show, is shopping it elsewhere. Sure, another streamer could swoop in and rescue it… but the real question is: should they? With so many standout international thrillers available, Hotel Costiera always felt like the pretty but forgettable option on the menu.

Season 1 remains on Prime Video for anyone curious enough to check in, but don’t expect a luxurious stay. Think of it as a budget hotel with a great view: nice to look at, but you won’t be heartbroken when checkout time arrives.
