Peacock Announces The Paper Season 2 Premiere Date and New Guest Stars

Man in tie and suspenders points ahead while a group of cyclists on trikes gathers on a street.

Hold onto your regional journalism awards, sitcom devotees, because Peacock just dropped the news we have all been waiting for. The streaming network has officially locked in the return of our favorite workplace mockumentary, confirming that The Paper Season 2 premiere date announced for September 9, 2026, will bring the entire newsroom back to our screens. If you thought the first batch of episodes left the Toledo Truth Teller staff in a bizarre spot, the upcoming sophomore slump-defying run promises to lean even harder into the mundane absurdity of local reporting.

When the spin-off series from the universe of The Office first debuted, audiences held their collective breath to see if Greg Daniels and Michael Koman could capture lightning in a bottle twice. They did not disappoint. The series quickly carved out its own identity, trading paper sales for a ragtag printing press. The freshly announced return date means we are getting a full binge-drop on a Wednesday, allowing us to consume all the workplace drama in one single, glorious sitting.

The upcoming narrative arc focuses on Editor-in-Chief Ned Sampson, portrayed with the perfect level of high-strung insecurity by Domhnall Gleeson. Fresh off a surprising sweep at the Ohio Journalism Awards, Ned is desperately chasing a hard-hitting investigative scoop to turn his small-town paper into a reputable media powerhouse. Naturally, his target is a highly exclusive, secretive local private club, a journalistic crusade that seems explicitly designed to blow up in his face and put the entire staff out of a job.

We are also finally getting answers to that lingering romantic tension between Ned and star reporter Mare Pritti. Navigating a workplace crush while trying not to completely bankrupt a dying medium is a lot for anyone to handle. Meanwhile, Sabrina Impacciatore’s Esmeralda Grand is still fumbling her way through the managing editor role, trying to maintain order among a staff that is slowly, painfully growing into actual, competent reporters.

Peacock is loading up the guest roster for this second outing, bringing in comedic heavyweights like Lisa Gilroy, Andy Richter, and Jon Lovitz to stir the pot. Oscar Nuñez is also slated to keep reprising his role as accountant Oscar Martinez, providing that comfortable, cynical bridge to Dunder Mifflin that keeps our nostalgic hearts beating.

Mark your calendars for September 9, 2026, because the Toledo Truth Teller is back in business. Head over to the comment section below to let us know if you think Ned and Mare will actually make it work, or if the paper is destined for the recycling bin.
