Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer Breakdown: Parallel Universes, Daddy Issues, and DCU Chaos

Hero in a red and blue costume stands poised in a misty forest. Tall trees in the background create a moody atmosphere. No visible text.

The new Peacemaker Season 2 trailer just kicked open the multiverse — and resurrected some serious family drama. The trailer dropped at San Diego Comic Con 2025, and it's packed with enough interdimensional weirdness, emotional gut punches, and superhero cameos to melt your brain in the best way possible. So what’s going on in Peacemaker’s wild return and why should you care? Let’s dig in.

Peacemaker Enters a Parallel Universe — Of Course He Does Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer

Because blowing things up in one universe just wasn’t enough, Peacemaker (John Cena, still absolutely killing it) now stumbles into an alternate reality thanks to a dimension-hopping gizmo built by none other than his very dead dad, Auggie Smith. This parallel world brings us a heroic version of Peacemaker that is... unsettlingly well-adjusted. It also sets up a trippy internal conflict where Chris Smith has to confront who he is — and who he could have been.

Rick Flag’s Dad Is Out for Blood

Surprise! Rick Flag Sr. (played by Frank Grillo with maximum vengeance energy) is back and he’s not here for therapy. The father of the man Peacemaker killed in The Suicide Squad is now running A R G U S and dead set on making Chris Smith pay. This sets up a deeply personal villain arc that’s way more satisfying than another sky beam finale.

DCU Cameos and the Future of the Franchise

This season is fully locked into James Gunn’s new DC Universe. We’re talking appearances from Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and even Maxwell Lord. The trailer shows Peacemaker awkwardly trying to audition for a hero squad — which goes about as well as you’d expect. It’s messy, it’s meta, and it’s hilarious.

Peacemaker Is Still the Unhinged Hero We Need

The Peacemaker Season 2 trailer promises more chaos, more emotion, and way more ridiculous action sequences. With multiverse stakes, unresolved trauma, and some of the DCU’s biggest names popping in, this season looks ready to blow the roof off what superhero TV can do. Whether you’re here for the alternate timelines or just want to see John Cena curse at interdimensional doppelgängers, you won’t want to miss it.

Get ready for the most unhinged season yet when Peacemaker returns August 21 on Max. Want more DCU breakdowns, episode recaps, or snarky multiverse theories? Stick around. We’re just getting started.
