NBC Renews One Chicago Franchise: New Seasons for 'Chicago Fire', 'Chicago Med', and 'Chicago P.D.' Confirmed

Firefighters and medical personnel work in an urban setting under a bridge at night, surrounded by high-rise buildings. The mood is intense.

NBC has officially renewed the popular One Chicago franchise, ensuring more drama and action in Chicago Fire Season 14, Chicago Med Season 11, and Chicago P.D. Season 13. These hit series remain pillars of NBC’s primetime lineup, and they’ll continue to dominate Wednesday nights with brand-new episodes.

Strong ratings drive the renewals for the One Chicago franchise. Despite slight year-over-year viewership drops, all three One Chicago shows remain among NBC’s most-watched dramas.

Cast shakeups ahead for Chicago Fire however. We reported earlier that actors Jake Lockett (Sam Carver) and Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter) will not return next season. The cast departures are part of NBC’s efforts to reduce production costs for the long-running Chicago Fire.

What’s Next: Season Finales and What to Expect

All three One Chicago shows return with new episodes on Wednesday, May 7, leading into their season finales airing May 21.

  • Chicago Med (8/7c): The hospital faces budget cuts as Goodwin is forced to make tough personnel decisions. Meanwhile, Charles’ daughter is hospitalized, and a transplant patient faces a life-changing choice.

  • Chicago Fire (9/8c): Severide risks his job to protect a fellow firefighter. Kidd navigates family drama involving Natalie and her sister. Herrmann prepares for the Chief’s test.

  • Chicago P.D. (10/9c): Finale details remain under wraps, but showrunner Gwen Sigan teased (via TVLine) a high-stakes arc: “Intelligence intensifies its pursuit of dirty Deputy Chief Reid. As tensions rise, Voight struggles with his instincts. Meanwhile, Ruzek and Burgess’s wedding nears, and Torres grapples with emotional consequences of past actions.”
