Leslie Jones Shakes Up CBS Comedy DMV as Energetic Assistant Sally

Smiling woman with a Christmas decoration engages with two people at a festive party. Warm lights and decorations in the background.

Leslie Jones is about to make the East Hollywood branch of CBS’ new comedy DMV feel like the most chaotic party of the year. The Saturday Night Live alum guest stars as Sally, the energetic executive assistant to the DMV director, and according to CBS, she’s ready to step in, shake things up, and steal scenes like only Leslie Jones can.

The upcoming episode, The Next Window, follows the staff as they embark on a road trip to the Big Sac holiday party. CBS describes the chaos perfectly: “Colette tries to impress Noa before his single ‘window’ closes. Meanwhile, Barb’s effort to save the East Hollywood DMV backfires when she accidentally tackles the director, but assistant Sally (Leslie Jones) steps in to help.” Translation: Leslie Jones arrives just in time to prevent a bureaucratic meltdown and inject her trademark comic energy into the office drama.

Sally is more than just a problem solver. She’s “energetic and proud” and bonds immediately with Barb, sharing a love for everything DMV-related. It’s exactly the kind of character that lets Jones flex her comedic timing and dominate every scene she’s in. While the core cast — Harriet Dyer, Tim Meadows, Tony Cavalero, Molly Kearney, Alex Tarrant, and Gigi Zumbado — handles the day-to-day absurdity of public service life, Jones’ Sally adds that extra jolt of humor that makes you wish every DMV had someone this fabulous behind the desk.

Jones is not the only guest star shaking things up. Zoe Lister-Jones, Chelsea Frei, Jessica Camacho, and former WNBA player Renee Montgomery are also dropping by, while Randall Park will be back later to appear repreise his role as a rival DMV manager. But it’s Jones’ mix of charm, authority, and barely contained exasperation that promises to be the scene-stealer fans will talk about long after the credits roll.

DMV, developed by Dana Klein and inspired by a Katherine Heiny short story, has already secured a full season order. And with Leslie Jones dropping in just as the holiday chaos hits, this is one DMV visit you won’t mind waiting in line for. Tune in Monday, December 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT — Sally has the keys, and she’s not afraid to use them.
