General Hospital delivered a week heavy on family, emotional goodbyes, questionable alliances and the kind of secrets that never stay buried for long in Port Charles. From Curtis beginning his prison sentence to Drew suddenly deciding he wants to make amends, the August 17-21 episodes moved several stories forward while planting some very suspicious seeds for what comes next.
Curtis Says Goodbye Before Heading to Pentonville
Curtis' final days of freedom provided some of the week's strongest emotional material. Before reporting to Pentonville, he spent time saying goodbye to the people he loves, including Jordan, Trina and little Desmond. His farewell to his children was particularly difficult, with Curtis reminding Trina how proud he is of her and encouraging her to continue living her life on her own terms.
The emotions didn't stop there. Trina singing to Desmond as Curtis entered Pentonville made the moment hit even harder, giving the family storyline a poignant sendoff as Curtis began serving his sentence.
Meanwhile, Portia is already worried about how Trina will handle her father's incarceration. She turned to Ava and asked her to keep an eye on Trina, believing her daughter may be struggling more than she's willing to admit.
Jordan Takes Charge at Aurora — and Drew Wants Back In
Curtis may be behind bars, but business in Port Charles isn't slowing down. Jordan agreed to step in as temporary CEO of Aurora, immediately putting her in an interesting position with Michael. Then Drew showed up.
Following what appears to be an epiphany, Drew began trying to repair some of the bridges he's burned — including making amends with Portia. He also wants to become more involved with Aurora again, something Michael understandably isn't exactly jumping to celebrate. Michael made it clear that he doesn't trust Drew, but Jordan surprisingly asked him to reconsider.
What exactly is Jordan thinking? Keeping your enemies close is one thing. Letting Drew anywhere near the building might require an entirely different strategy.
Sonny and Sidwell Meet Again
Over at Pentonville, Sonny paid Jenz Sidwell a visit, and Sidwell wasted no time making it clear their business isn't finished. He warned Sonny that he hasn't won and suggested there is more coming. Considering this is Sidwell we're talking about, nobody should be filing that under "harmless prison conversation."
Ava and Drew also continued strengthening their alliance against Sonny, although Portia warned Ava to be careful where Drew is concerned. Between Sidwell's warning and Drew and Ava's partnership, Sonny has more than one potential problem circling him.
Willow's Return Gets Everyone Talking
Willow is back at the Quartermaine gatehouse, and the news traveled quickly. Chase discovered her there while out for a jog, while Tracy had the unenviable task of informing Brook Lynn that Willow had returned.
Michael also filled Josslyn in and made her a deal: be courteous to Willow, and he'll help her evaluate potential candidates to become CEO of JJE. Because apparently even family drama in Port Charles comes with corporate negotiations.
Kai, meanwhile, resigned as Willow's intern and finally told her how he really feels about working with her. With Kai and Trina believing they're finally free from the secret they've been carrying, we'll see how long that relief actually lasts.
Secrets, Stalkers and Trouble for the Younger Crowd
The younger Port Charles crew had plenty happening as well. Gio and Trina continued working on their music, only for Simon to suggest they pretend to be a couple to increase their appeal to fans. There's one slight problem: Gio doesn't want to build his career by pretending Emma isn't an important part of his life.
More troubling is the continued presence of Trina's mysterious stalker, who watched her from outside the Surf Lodge. Josslyn also unknowingly handed Hudson personal information about Phoebe after he subtly used social engineering to learn more about her background and adoption. That's certainly not ominous at all.
Elsewhere, Charlotte appears to be embracing her Cassadine instincts again. She tricked Rocco into believing she was on his side while she and Danny continued plotting around Drew.
Love, Surprises and a Familiar Face
There was romance amid all the scheming. Jason and Britt shared a kiss after spending time together, while Portia and Isaiah returned to the cabin where their relationship took another step forward. Ric was preparing for a major romantic move of his own, telling Sonny he planned to propose to Elizabeth — only to later find Elizabeth and Dante together on the sofa in what looked like a compromising situation. That's one way to derail a proposal plan.
Laura prepared to leave Port Charles for Dublin to visit Kevin and Ace, putting Rocco in charge of her apartment while she's gone. And there was another welcome return this week: Donna is back and already helping Sonny plan a family barbecue, complete with a secret guest invitation that could surprise her father.
With Curtis now in Pentonville, Sidwell issuing warnings, Drew attempting to reinvent himself, Trina still being watched and Hudson quietly digging into Phoebe's past, General Hospital has plenty simmering as Port Charles heads into another week.
